All these riots everywhere!!!

I dont think it would force them into crime i think it would force them to look to their family and community for help.
Not looking to the government they condem to keep handing out money

I would be a lot more willing to 'hug a hoodie' if i didnt think about my tax bill before i think about helping them

Comunties have come together to help eachother. They could come together to help these supposed 'lost youth'

However the more we see people charged the more we are seeing it isnt just hoodies and thugs. Its teaching assistant and dental nurses, public workers!

I think the benefits should be docked to help pay for the mess and loss of stock etc and they should have to repair all the damage 'theyve' done

I don't think their benefits should be stopped completely, but I think once they are out of prison, they should have to also do some sort of community service indefinitely (i.e. helping to clean up their mess) in order to get their benefit - so if they don't do the work, they don't get their benefit.

For the ones that are workers, IF they still have their jobs they should be made to do this work at weekend/on their days off and be fined if they don't do it.

& If theyre not on benefits, they should get hefty fines.

Eltham, Reading & Slough are reported to be experiencing disturbances tonight.

Eltham confirmed live on Sky News

Birmingham tense with lots or people about but calm right now xx

Someone i know has recently done 'community service' it mainly involves standing around smoking and getting on and off a bus. Doing half the time you are actually serviing. ITs only if the weather is good they go pick up little or trim grass.

He said himself its no form of punishment, just a joke and a school of how not to get caught again.

Yet again, not real punishment, no real consequence, no real issue for them

seems to be calming down then  prob got nothing left to loot

It just looks really shocking to me, didn't know they could use such force

For all they know those rioters could be armed with weapons, they're just covering their own backs and they've every right to. They're already at risk just being there to help protect the community, they need to protect themselves too. And if those people getting a bit of beating means less innocent people will be hurt then so I think its a fair swap.

totally OT but just looking at damnyouautocorrect.com and some of the recent ones are REALLY funny.

I think it shouldn't be 'normal' community service though - they should be made to work all day and made to work their butts off, with people assessing them to make sure they do a good enough job to warrant getting benefits/not getting fined.

That probably infringes on human rights though

me too. i looked at 2 pages worth and my eyes were hurting from laughing so had to stop
