Yea - everyone's been going on about removing 'their' benefits, but it actually turns out many of those involved were anything but 'dole scrounging scum'.... although they probably will be after this - teachers, lifeguards, and all those types of profession have to have up-to-date CRB disclosures which show absolutely everything on it. Not to mention the fact that their names are out there anyway, no employer will give a job to a teaching assistant convicted of violence and neither should they!

Im listening to LBC. They were discussing some of the ones who have already been charged! I was so shocked at some of their jobs. Crazy people!

That's not entirely true.

The ones that got caught were likely the opportunists who happened to be passing by and tried their luck. They didn't have time to cover their faces etc - it was spur of the moment.

The majority of the actual trouble makers WERE youths - the ones rioting and causing the trouble - they covered up and are/were less likely to be caught.

So the details in the news is giving a warped snapshot of the kind of people that rioted. Also the media KNOW that reading out about the ones with decent jobs will get people talking and interested. There were hundreds of people in court yesterday and last night... but only those with jobs are making the news xxx

I think we are all aware that most of them were youths. But its shocking to think that people with decent jobs would do it. Of course people are going to talk about it.

I would say they will lose their jobs for sure. LOADS of jobs you have to be CRB checked for, and you will lose your job if anything comes up on it.

They shouldnt be allowed to claim benefits once their jobs have been taken away! They wanted to loot, they didnt need to.

well, we cant leave people to starve and be homeless as it just promotes more crime. Bare minimum benefit wise should do really.

Completely agree by taking there benefits it will only make things worse. They will then become homeless and take to crime to survive which in the long run will cost tax payers more, so let them keep there benefits or jobs, this is why I didnt sign that petition either

agree that taking away benefits from simeone who has a criminal history and therefore will find it harder to get a job just encorages them to steal again. Why take benefits from looters but not murders or paedophiles?

I certainly dont think they should keep their jobs! They should be given vouchers for food. Not benefits, should be kept on a tight rope.
