I gave up caffiene January 2010 in preparation for my IVF last autumn. Was so difficult to get off it that I don't want to start drinking it again until we've finished all the IVF we are going to do.

But I am having a problem on the days I have had a bad nights sleep or just need a pick me up or a bit of extra energy.

Can anyone suggest anything to perk me up on those days without drinking coffee??!!

Ive heard apples are a good pick me up in the morning

Deffinatly apples or even a cup of tea

I'm struggling with the same issue hun! I haven't had any caffeine in 3 weeks in preparation for this IVF cycle. I'm a 2 latte a day kinda gal, in addition to loads of diet pepsi.... So this no caffeine deal really stinks!

I find rooibus/red bush tea perks me up in the morning if I don't want caffeine

I'm with you all the way there! I used to drink loads as well. Just have to keep telling myself it will all be worth it in the long run. Giving up alcohol was soooooo much easier!!!!

do any of you feel better for giving up caffeine? just wondering as I was planning to do it tommorow as I consume way too much caffeine on a daily basis

Any fruit that's high in sugar is good. Apples, oranges, bananas are probably best!

I allow myself a cup of tea in the morning to wake me up, another at around 3pm to help with the afternoon slump and then switch to decaff teabags for the rest of the day.

Nope!! Don't feel any different at all. Apart from the caffiene craving when you are tired or need a boost!!

If you're able to take vitamin B supplements, I find that they really help with my mood and energy levels

I've also ditched the caffeine after being a 3 cans of coke a day girl  and I'm sleeping lots better now! I don't know of anything to help keep you awake though :(
