Agree with everything said here. Seperation of church and state works BOTH ways. It's unconstitutional plain and simple.
Have you read what you've just written? Do you understand what separation of church and state really means? It means you may NOT enforce your beliefs onto people who may not believe in the same thing you do(it's what makes America a free nation). This means no company, governments etc may force you to do or restrict you from access to human liberties due to their religious beliefs, in the legal world it's a big deal and effects more rights then you can imagine.

Also, as CalliesMom pointed out not everybody has sex before marriage. I've only been with my husband, no need for birthcontrol before then. Romney isn' t trying to interfere with people's access to birth control proof please, this is called 'talk from the bubble' he's upholding the constitution by not forcing people to go against their religious beliefs.

You have this point completely wrong. He is talking about restricting access to birth control, it's a religious thing. Since when is denying women access to BCP forcing women to go against their religious beliefs (how dare Republicans impede women's freedoms!). Under USA law now, you have the right to not take BC and be faithful to your religion, under your proposed law, you restrict everyone's rights.

When I was looking for jobs, this will be much tougher for you if you allow religious gurus to set their authority on human liberties. Most of the companies you'd work or are owned by Jewish people. Put your keepa on and don't you bring that hotdog into the workplace unless it's kocher and 100% beef. :haha:I made sure find a good company that I fit well with. That means you "jive" with their company values, goals, etc etc. How is the coverage of birth control issue any different?! I would just say, " I suppose I'm not a good fit here" and move on to a company that gave me access to the things I wanted!Get real sweetheart, isn't it already hard enough to find a good job without making it all weird too? I'm atheist, I'd hate to have to finally find the health insurance, position I like, pay that's high enough and work hours without having to conform to some cult leader's craziness ( This is absolutely not any different than finding a company that provides the "other" benefits you want ie paid vacation, type of insurance coverage etc etc).

I think Romney will SUPPORT women by getting the economy running. Romney's invisible plan, we're still all eagerly awaiting the unveiling of this magical plan. Can you please help me and show me anywhere where there is some sort of comprehensive 'plan' please. I feel his bubble talk using the word 'plan', 'economy', and 'get going' alone has sold every Republican voter. Palin did a similar sort of big talking important sound bite job. I agreed with everything he said in the debate about supporting working moms. That he'd support them, oh and I were waiting for the how, we never heard anything. I nearly spat out my food in disgust!

I don't think Obama is doing a good job. My opinion. ???Usually people have reasons. Obviously others have other opinions. It's clear that we're economically worse off than we were in 08. Yes, the white guy sat down to eat, got up without paying the tab and the black guy who sat down next had to pay for it. Gas prices are through the roof, unemployment is higher, more people on welfare etc etc. Those are facts that nobody can spin. Bubble talk again. Here are the facts:
https://www.washingtonmonthly.com/magazine/march_april_2012/features/obamas_top_50_accomplishments035755.php

How is it stupid to want to give another candidate a shot to do a better job? Even if Obama was thrown into a "hole" so to speak from previous policies, doesn't it make sense that he would want to start putting dirt in to raise us/him out of it instead of digging it deeper.

Sure, he seems like a nice guy. But he's inexperienced as inexperienced as Romney, you must understand how smart this statement makes you sound and I don't like his policies. Not to mention it makes me CRINGE that they're using the Osama Bin Laden thing as a campaign strategy.you're right, he doesn't need to use this, but for all the token war loving Republicans it's spellbinding! I'm pretty sure Obama wasn't there raiding that compound that night. I'm glad you realise this, he has MUCH better things to do with his time ??? :wacko:So disrespectful to the SEALS that were doing all the work. Really, did Bush jump into The middle east guns blazing, tanks revving? This is not a cowboy movie!! Also, the fact that the Obama administration has come out and openly said they "messed up" with the attack in Libya is disconcerting. Ok, sure she said the "buck stopped with her". But this is our SECRETARY OF STATE and the people that the president is entrusting with our national security. Yes, not being a lying slime bucket is extremely important to winning over relations foreign countries. Let's leave small business to the small businessmen like Romney and foreign diplomacy to cool, collected, practiced (he's an 'experienced' lawyer) Obama + friends. Republicans won't make friends or win negotiations with the redneck hostility they carry around.

Interesting how those who support Romney distance themselves from Bush's failures, when out of 24 of Romney's special advisers on foreign policy, 17 served in the Bush administration!

How will Romney be good for the economy, when he intends to repeal obamacare, and dodd-frank but doesn't say what he will replace it with. How will he pay for the 5 trillion dollar tax cuts he proposes? These are the real issues, yet the only thing he and his cronies are clear and forthcoming with are limitations on a woman's autonomy over her own body.

Lol I wish all voters were as informed as many of the women on this forum are.
You ladies know who you are!:)

Well said, 2have. Saved my fingers from a lot of typing!:)

Looking at around $8 a gallon in Southern Scotland. $5 woukd be bliss as DH drives around 1800 miles a month to work!

Lol Trichick, there's still much to be said but I fear it falls on deaf ears. I more posts of this nature i see th more i believe the problem *may* be with the colour of his skin:blush:Because so much doen't add up. But there's much history and maybe bubbling up of this alternative explanation, I just can't wrap my head around why this is going on? Why is this happening in 2012? This is cave man stuff here! Shakes her head and sullenly goes off to bed. Grey skies above until election day :winkwink:

WHAT??? Give me your cheap gas. In London we are practically $10 (its actually $9.9) and that is with a price drop of 15cents a gallon today :nope:

"You have this point completely wrong. He is talking about restricting access to birth control, it's a religious thing. Since when is denying women access to BCP forcing women to go against their religious beliefs"

How is this not unconstitutional? Making a company who believes against birth control forced to provide it? They have a right to believe what they want and if they believe against birth control than thats their right! It's not denying women birth control. It's giving companies a choice based on their religious beliefs.

quote from the Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I love it when people sit there and say how uniformed I am when my opinion differs from theres. I read all the facts (https://www.loc.gov/index.html is a good site to find out what laws/bills were passed)

You can't dispute that the economy still sucks. That's a fact. The $777.3 billion dollar stimulus package didn't do any good, just made it so our kids, kids, kids, kids will be up to their eyeballs in debt even before they are a thought. Obama says the unemployment rate is going down...but he doesn't count those that have stopped looking for jobs.

You forget the fact that he has passed numerous laws for the enviornmentalists but those laws have hit businesses hard and made them have to close thus more workers are out of jobs. Too much regulation. There actually is a plant here in Utah that is getting foreclosed on because they can't afford to follow all of the new regulations. I think it's good to care about the enviornment but you can't make a bunch of new laws and have them take affect right away. These businesses need time to make the changes.

Some the biggest issues regarding this election are: the economy, Obamacare, illegal immigration and of course Foreign Policy.

I have read numerous news articles about the US pulling from Iraq and Afghanistan has actually made Al-Qaeda stronger.

https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/67467/leah-farrall/how-al-qaeda-works

This is dang scary. I don't know a whole lot about this topic though so I can't really make a call on it.

:dohh: wow I feel for you. Why is it so expensive over there?

Wow. People get a little hot under the collar about politics around here. It makes me a little sad to see some people resorting to name-calling and personal attacks just because they don't agree with someone's opinion. I'm also surprised to see so many non-Americans with such strong feelings on US leadership. I am, however, impressed with their knowledge...I admit that I know comparatively little about most other countries' governments.

As for me, I will be voting for who I deem to be the lesser of two evils. I really don't like either of the main candidates.

However, I believe Obama will win. I hope that his supporters won't end up regretting their decision.

Honestly, it made me really sad to see groups of people become the excuse for everything wrong with the country:( That will always upset me. The makeup of our country is a melting pot of ethnicities, economic backgrounds, etc. We all carry the burden, and when one group becomes the scapegoat for a downfall, it brings our country back to a much uglier time than we are in now.

It makes me very happy to hear the opinions of those outside our borders. It further demonstrates the fact that the decisions our leaders make have a global impact. The world watches this election.

Dragonfly, where are you from in the Midwest? I am, too. I don't think I've seen any name calling to the opposing people only about the candidates. I think it's remained pretty civil.

American elections are WAY more interesting than Canadian ones. I'm always amazed at how conservative your conservatives are!

4. Obama and foreign policy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y35S4Oua8vI

Just a few reasons why I don't like Obama, since everyone is commenting that no one's backing up why they feel the way they feel.

* It's going to be a close race. Obama by no means "has this in the bag". We'll have to wait and see how it all turns out. https://www.policymic.com/articles/...s-show-election-2012-slipping-away-from-obama

OH! And, for a bit of fun...https://www.youtube.com/results?sea...0.130.1394.7j7.14.0...0.0...1ac.1.rtmz7ghVINc

I know nothing about this whole election but reading some of these comments has irritated the LIFE out of me, particularly the ones in the tone of "why should we all pay for everyone else to sit at home on their butt whilst they get paid for it/get food stamps" etc etc.

Ask yourselves, if your situation changed and you had no income whatsoever what would you do? Starve? Unlikely. The benefits for these people are there for a reason. And yes, of course it can be said that some do abuse the system, but not everyone. It is not fair to penalise the people who truely depend on the benefits by taking them away just so you have an extra bit of money at the end of the month.

What the hell do you want? A country that doesn't have taxes at all so you can be better off? A country that will not provide for you if one day (god forbid) you find yourselves with nothing? Don't be so ridiculous. This is the 21st century!

And yes, in agreement with others, electricity and gas are necessities! As are clothes! :dohh: :dohh:

I don't think anyone is referring to the people who actually need it. The frustration comes in where people abuse the system and choose NOT to work because they can live off welfare without doing anything. That's not right.

I agree with Romney that the STATES need to individually decide what is best welfare wise for their state. I'd never propose cutting welfare all together but there needs to be stricter controls IMO. If you read my post, why should people on food stamps be allowed to use them to pay for junk food? That just doesn't make sense to me.

Exactly! Why should I pay for the abusers to get junk food, and take n bake pizza (papa Murphy) and then pay cash for cigs and alcohol. Being in the social work field, I can state that their is TONS of people abusing the system. That is another reason why I wish there were more requirements to receive welfare. Our spending just over one TRILLION dollars a year on welfare. Also, why should I take from the rich to pay for the poor, when they earned their money already? And I do not have any money myself.

You shouldn't have to pay Wildfire. My husband and I work incredibly hard and STILL struggle. By the time we pay our bills there is not much left over...these tax increases are really going to hurt us. We already cut so many of our bills. We don't even have TV right now just so we can stay afloat and keep a meager savings account.

I have to say, I have a suspicion this is what happens to a lot of people. Income is X amount. X amount doesn't pay for the things that they "want" ( which, hey, we all struggle with that!) SO, they spend their money paying for things they don' t really need to satisfy their desires ( ie buying new clothes, having expensive phones and phone plans, cable, etc). Enter credit card debt. Now, they're living above their means and are sinking into more debt. Suddenly, making ends meet becomes a struggle and it's hard to get groceries when they're so buried in debt in bills. Enter welfare. That's not OK to me. I know people on WIC that have nicer things than DH and I do ( smart phones, dish cable etc)

People don't know how to budget their money. And the amount of people in credit CRISIS is evidence of that. Did you know the average debt of an American family is around $16,000?!https://www.creditcards.com/credit-...ustry-facts-personal-debt-statistics-1276.php. No wonder people can't afford groceries!

I'll be real. DH and I apparently qualify for WIC right now ( Not 100% sure if this is true but according to someone in his command, it is). Would it be great to have some extra cash in our hands since we'd be saving on groceries? Of course. But we don't feel right. SO, we cut and budget and make sacrifices. We buy used. We drive old cars and don't vacation. We don't have TV or even a DVD player ( yes, seriously!). We got rid of Netflix, Hulu plus, our cable, downgraded so many other things. We wear pre-loved clothes as does DD. So, I feel like I have a RIGHT to be upset when my neighbor has extra cash every month because of welfare and gets to go shopping while I'm stuck at home in my limited wardrobe!

I think its great that youve made all these cuts to save money. But if you qualify for WIC, why are you so against taking it? Even if you dont use it for things like clothes, you could try to save some of it and put it towards something your baby may need one day.Why be miserable and stressed out just over pride? Theres nothing wrong with accepting help when offered/needed. Your kid's interests come first!
