Anyone have any experience with an amnio ?
I'm booked in for Tuesday as I'm high risk 1 in 60 for DS
I'm so scared of the needle and worried about possible MC after
Anyone. :flower:

I had one and it was absolutely fine. Really fast and over before I knew it. The needle stung a bit but didn't last long at all. I had no problems afterwards. No spotting or cramping.
The risk of mc is not always as high as reported. My doctors statistics were 1:300 and he said those who mc generally had underlying problems.
Try not to worry too much. For me the results of the amnio were very important and let me enjoy the rest of my pregnancy.

Thank you johnsongirl,
Do you know if its ok to drive afterwoods? I know they say to rest and take it easy but with school runs and coming home from the hospital ( my husband doesn't drive) its a worry. :flower:

:hugs::hugs: I am sure everything will go perfectly. I really would not drive, you need to relax after the procedure. Can someone pick you up or take a cab home? You should really just rest and relax for 24 hrs, just to be on the safe side.. Good Luck :hugs:

I didn't drive. I just rested for 24hrs. You would probably be ok, it's more the running around after the kids and lifting that I definitely wouldn't do x

stalking as i got amnio on the 20th as im high risk 1:130, only reason im high because of my blood, i hope it all goes well for you :flower:

Update, had the amnio this morning it went great, wound myself up into a panic attack the day before so I was percribed some anti anxiety tablets to take 15 mins before procedure, that calmed my heart rate down!
Could barely feel the needle go in I was amazed when she said its done, less pain then a blood test, bit crampy now, having a lay down

That's great that it went well for you l, thanks for the update, really scared about mine, how long until you get your results? Did you bleed much? Sorry about the questions, hope you feel better soon :hugs:

I have mine week today so hoping it goes as smoothly as yours. Did you drive after? I will be driving myself home

Expecting the fhs results on Thursday, that can rule out downs and a few ofher main ones, i also get to know the sex of the baby, so really excited about that!
the full set of results the more rarer problems will be up to two weeks
No bleeding at all, didn't even need a band aid! :flower:

Oh and I did drive home after, no problems with that.

Update. Feeling blessed, we are one of the lucky ones, fsh results came back negative, got the results the following day of the amnio.
