Anatomy Scan tomorrow!!!

Cant wait to find out if little one is (we were told at 12+6 that it looked like a boy) or if we are switching to team this time! We will find out around 2-3pm and I am super excited!!!

Oh I just came on to post this!! I wish I could share your excitedment but I am sooooo so nervous. I am so emotional about it, I have a boy already and think I'd like a girl so I have spent 20 weeks only thinking about boys, boys names etc and now I have no idea how I feel about gender! Then I tell myself off and feel guilty for only thinking about gender and not just that everything will be healthy! I'm basically just a wreck! I also have to go straight into work afterwards so will have no time to dwell!

This isn't at all me ticking you ladies off or saying you shouldn't be thinking about gender, but I will just say that when you look at the list of things they actually check at the anatomy/anomaly scan, you realise there's so much that could potentially be wrong that you will just be happy if it's not! My sister was given potentially very bad news at her 20 week scan (turned out ok thank God) and then at mine four weeks ago, I was also told that there was a potential problem, it just took away from the excitement of being told I was having a girl! Of course I was still happy but it was tempered by the worry. I've now had 90% the all clear, hopefully just one more growth scan at 32 weeks to check.
This isn't me trying to dampen your excitement - I'm just trying to put the gender thing in perspective so you don't get too nervous about it! Most likely absolutely everything will be perfect hope you enjoy your scan!

As I said...wasn't ticking anyone off. Was just the voice of someone whose gender excitement got kind of messed up by there being another issue. As in, don't be nervous about gender because when it comes down to it you'll realise you really don't mind.

Oh I totally get it! With DS I was told that he had a spot on his heart and was sent to a specialist. It was a potential marker for downs and if he had it I would have been ok with it. He was born perfectly healthy with zero issues. My mom works high risk pregnancies so I know all the risks but I try not to dwell on them too much because what will be will be. Maybe that sounds heartless (believe me I would be devastated if it was something that was not viable with life) but for me its the best way I can cope knowing all that I know. Plus, I had a pretty in-depth scan at my 13 weeks appt and my blood work came back low risk for everything so I feel a little more secure going into my anatomy scan.

Oh I'm with you there and wasn't suggesting anyone here didn't care about baby's health!
I hope your scan is enjoyable and you get a long look at baby in case you don't get another u/s!

Congratulations ladies ! We're staying team yellow as just happy to be at this gestation after previous loss and complications in this pregnancy. Tbh who cares if you're focusing on the sex of baby. It's your baby , your body and nobody can or has the right to tell you what to think or feel about it

I wasn't telling anyone how to feel about anything honestly. It was well intentioned from the start to help with nervousness over gender but wish I hadn't said anything :/
