Thought I would see how many of us out there that there are , I have just been Diagnosed as not ovulating (low progesterone) and It would be good to get a group going to help us along with our little journey of getting our Bfp's It's gonna be hard so the more support and experiences shared the better it will be :)
I never thought In a million years I wasn't ovulating so when I found out it was such a shock, I know that I will have to have clomid to help me but I am doing everything possible to increase my chances of it being successful, I kick started by exercising more and losing a bit of weight (though I wasn't really over weight) as I have researched that just losing 10% of your weight can increase your chances dramatically. Any way basically thats a little about my story.

Oooh can I join?

I haven't ovulated for 7-8 months since I came off depo. I also have been recently diagnosed with an overactive thyroid which apparently could also cause it.

Did they give you a reason for why you aren't ovulating?

Yes I have Low progesterone, Will you be starting any treatment soon? Good have someone else to talk to :)

Hi Mrs Howley, what a wonderful idea - I would love to join :flower:

Me and DH were trying for 6 months and I decided to go an see the doctor as my cycle length was long and erratic and I had an inkling I wasn't ovulating. The doctor did ovulation bloods at 21 days into my cycle and confirmed my worst fears. Luckily he agreed to put me straight on clomid and the following cycle (August 2010) we conceived our sprout. We were both over the moon but sadly lost sprout in a MMC at 10 weeks measuring 5-6 weeks.
Since then I have taken another round of clomid resulting in ovulation but :bfn: and this cycle I am hopeful about, I am due next Wednesday but going to wait it out until Saturday to test if the :witch: doesn't put in an appearance.

Since we wasted 6 months ttc when we weren't ovulating I urge all ttcers to use OPK and BBT in conjunction to make sure everything is as it should be.

Phew well that's our story!

Would love to join ya!!! Haven't ovulated in a looooong time.....getting ready to start 3rd round of Clomid.

I just wondered because my progesterone was low too - 2.2 but the gyneocologist told me that my progesterone level was low *because* I'm not ovulating, not that it was the cause of it and that when I ovulate my progesterone will shoot up. They then had to do further tests to find the cause and it turns out its a mix of my thyroid and coming off depo.

Strange that they tell us such different things

Anyway it's fantastic to have this group!

That must of been so hard, but you know you can ovulate with clomid so it is just a matter of time. Me and my husband waste over 2 years trying and I wish we BBT'd as well as using the Clearblue fertility monitor . But I know what we have to face and I know I will have my Bfp by the end of this year :)

Yes it is strange he did kind of explain it all but my head was in such a spin I think I will go over it again with him next time I see him, as far as I'm aware he will start me on clomid after my next lot of tests

My test results came back today and I have low progesterone too. I am gutted. DH was not kind, either. Sign me up for this group, I need some support!

Ah thats good then. Sometimes there is no obvious reason, just a "hormonal imbalance".

At the mo I'm just on thyroid medication which hopefully in time will get my hormones back in to sync and let me ovulate again. If I don't within a 6 months (this time may reduce the more fed up I get) I'll be going back and begging for clomid.

Feisty Fidget I am so so sorry about the miscarriage - I had one just over a year ago and they are heartbreaking x

Your DH was not kind? Sorry honey what did he do? You'll get oodles of support here don't you worry.

I know my prolactin levels are slightly raised too but he didn't seem too worried as they weren't high enough to make too much difference, Sorry PocoHR to hear that but you have some answers now and you can look forward to getting the problem sorted,

Sorry I am not a doctor whatsoever but just from what my gyneo told me from when I pestered him with question - raised prolactin along with not ovulating could possibly be caused by a tiny pituatory tumour - don't worry that is NOT as bad as it sounds, not in the least life threatening, they just treat it with tablets and it gets rid of it and you start ovulating again.

Just saying, so you might ask them to look in to it - although they probably will anyway, they are the experts not me, I just pretend to be one.

Thanks Kates - yes they suck, can't stop thinking I should be this far along now or doing this  Fingers crossed we will get a whole flurry of :bfp: this cycle

Poco I am so sorry your OH is being an arse! :hugs: Kates is right, you will get lots of support here :hugs: xxx

He just said "so we're not going to have any babies ever, are we", in a mean way, and it was the WRONG time to say that. I know he's bummed about it too. He apologized and is being better now. I guess it was bad news for him as well. Its just hard.

I will have to schedule another appointment with the gyno and try and figure out why. My thyroid (just a random tsh test) was on the low side as well. I don't know. I hope it gets better soon. But, it is good to know early on. If we are wasting our time by trying naturally, then I want to do something that will work.

My progesterone level was 4, when it should have been between 21 and 54. I was shocked it was so low. I also think that maybe I ovulated late this month, but I don't know. We will have to see. My period should come next week. So, I guess I'll know more then.

I'm so happy for this group right now! :dust: to all!

I'd love to join this thread please! Good idea Mrs Howley :)

Here's my VERY LONG story!!!

We have been TTC for about 4 years now. For the first 2 years we were NTNP as we naively thought it would "just happen"...

We first saw a Fertility Specialist in Jan 2009 and we had SA and blood tests. They noted at this point that I had low progesterone but as I was only 21 at the time, they would not prescribe me any Clomid as the minimum age for any fertility treatment in my area is 23. So they decided to give me every other test such as Laparoscopy, HSG, Ultrasound, loads more bloods... This took us through to Aug 2010 and they told us it was unexplained infertility as everything looked great (apart from the low progesterone??)... They admitted that if I was over 23 I would not have had to go through the laparoscopy before being given Clomid... we felt they were just fobbing us off quite a lot due to my age.

On Monday we had our first appointment after my 23rd birthday (which was last week-yay!) They prescribed us with Clomid based on my Blood test results and also my BBT which I have been taking since November using DuoFertility, which detected annovulatory cycles.

So we are all set to start our 1st cycle on Clomid, hopefully it will be the one starting middle of Feb, as long as FS gets the letter to my GP in time.

But we have one more problem to consider.... when I got the results of the first blood test in 2009, it said that that I was not immune to Rubella. I noticed this when I got the results so I went straight to discuss this with my GP who said that I couldn't have the vaccination as I am TTC. But on Monday at our appointment the FS said that I should have the vaccination because if you catch Rubella when pregnant it causes miscarriage, deformities and defects such as blindness and deafness. So I thought OK I will get the vaccination, but they told me that we have to stop TTC for SIX MONTHS if I do!!! So not sure what to do... obviously I would not want to ever risk such a thing as rubella during pregnancy - but after researching it, I have found that in the UK only four people actually caught it in 2010. And eight in 2009. So its really rare. Don't know what to do... don't want to stop TTC'ing for 6 months!! The way she was going on though almost shouting at me, it was like rubella is rife in the UK... she had me in tears! They are giving us the drugs regardless though and said it is up to us to make a decision. So hard!

Anyway thats me! Nice having some other ladies to chat to, especially those with Clomid experiences, as I have no idea where to start xx

Welcome TashaLouise and good luck with your first round of clomid

Hope your managing to make sense of it a bit now, We often forget our husband in these situations and they probably find it just as frustrating as we do, as long as he cares thats the main thing. :hugs:

Hi love,

Just to mention - your TSH was low? This suggests an overactive thyroid (which I have recently been diagnosed with). This condition can affect ovulation, making it irregular, random or just stop it from happening.

The good news is that if this is the case, you just need medication to get your thyroid back in order and ovulation will go back to normal. I've just started a course of Carbimazole and am already feeling better.

Poco I am sorry to read that he said that :hugs: I think men just have knee jerk reactions to situations and lash out without thinking. Not helpful for us but it is just a way for them to vent, as long as he is being supportive now that's the main thing. Take Kates advice and bring it up with the doctor :hugs:

Tasha is sure is a tough one darling. On paper it seems no contest but to take the vaccination but in reality I know you are thinking 6 months is a long time to wait. I would like to think that if it were me I would just bite the bullet and wait it out as a miscarriage is an awful thing to happen and I wouldn't want to risk it again, but again I don't know as I am so impatient and hear that clock ticking to pop that first baby out (I'm 25 so have just 2 years on you). Sorry I couldn't be more help :hugs:
