Any Advice on Vitex?

How quickly did it work for you kyla, it's a month today and nothing seems to be going on... I ovulated on cd40 last cycle without vitex...

Within a couple weeks, maybe 2/3 (started it cd50 or something crazy) it made me ovulate then brought AF. Next cycle it made me ovulate cd20 and I conceived. I was on a high dose though. 1600mg/day in the am at least 30-60mins before eating so it could fully absorb. It can take 3 months to work though. My body just needed a little push I don't have any major issues besides PCOS. I just don't ovulate on my own. What dose are you on?

hope- Im doing good i have no idea what this cycle is doing, or whether not its a new cycle. I have noticed that my boobs are getting bigger and an increase in cm and im a lot more moody so maybe ovulation is coming around the corner. That or it came and i got knocked up ( i know that's not possible but hey). Ive been on the vitex now for about a month maybe three weeks at doses of 2000mg perday about an hour before i eat anything and i just started taking rejuvaflow about a week ago. Maybe you should increase your dosage.I also read it takes vitex up to 3 months to work. Hopefully you ovulate soon...

Hi Robinson, are your cycles usually really long? I'm taking vitex and unfortunately it seems that it's don't the opposite for me with my skin so I'm glad to hear it's helping yours, nice to hear you have finally ovulated. I'm cd30 today with no ovulation as of yet, last cycle I ovulated cd40 so not sure the vitex is really doing much thus far, I have been taking it for a month so far.
How much do you take daily and what brand?

Rockstar how is your cycle looking?

I take 1000mg the Gaia Brand, I wanted to increase it but if I get a bfp I want an easy wean. I started the month I got off bcp, I was afraid my cycles were going to go back to how they were before bcp which was 2-3 periods a 2-3 periods a year and no ovulation :( I was in bad shape. I felt the vitex working the first week with weird feelings.

Kyla, I take 800mg 30mins before breakfast 2x400 Natures Bounty i am a little worried to take any more as that dosage has really messed my skin as it is... I'm so very confused!

I got the 1000mg one which I will start tomorrow as I have ran out of the first. I'm not sure I can put up with this bad skin much more. I will reevaluate if I don't ovulate In the next 10 days.

The bad skin doesn't stay forever. It actually is a sign the vitex is working to regulate your hormones.

It usually takes 3 months before you start seeing effects. Everyone is different, as I've read about women seeing the effects after a matter of weeks, but even on the container it says 3 months. Don't give up yet.

Hey Rockstar--

I know how you feel, as I am on CD 90! I think I have different issues, because I honestly rarely ever get a natural period......I did two months of vitex with no success. I have read it works miracles for other girls on the internet, and it may very well do that for you, but don't be like me and put all your eggs in one basket. I went into it thinking that it was going to fix everything, and it didn't really do anything.

Sorry for the stupidly late response but yes im persevering, the acne is realy getting me down though. But today i have received inositol, not sure if any of you guys have taken it but i have heard really good reviews for pcos and read lots of studies. I plan to add that to my forever growing list :)
I also had some good news today! I have finally got a referal for a gynae! Yay i will be seeing them in 3 weeks :D
How is everyone doing? Im cd37 and nothing is going on for me unfortunately.

I've noticed an increase in acne for myself as well. I only take one pill a day which only has 80mg, so I feel like it's so little, but if it's doing this to my face so soon after taking it, does that mean it's working and I don't need to up the dosage?...I don't know.
What dosage is everyone else taking? And under what direction have you decided that it is an appropriate dose?

Glad u have a gyno appt finally. Hope good things come from it. :)

Hi May, 80mg is a very small amount but if you dont have a large imbalance then yeah it could definately be working. I take 1000mg so its a lot more than you. I know woman that take double and have no side effects. Im still debating whether its the right thing to take but am giving it another month or so and see how i fair, i have started inositol in the mean time as its good for insulin issues which almost 80/90% of pcos ladies suffer with. Fx it shortens these annoying long cycles.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while I've been really busy at work so here's the newest update. So I finally finished my vitex bottle I was on it for about 6 weeks and two days after af has arrived the real deal af which I haven't seen since January. I'm uber excited I'm officially back in the game... So this never ending cycle has ended at cd 102. I can't say whether or not it's due to the vitex or not but I would like to believe so. I'm now just wondering wether or not to continue taking it or if I should just leave it alone since af only came after I stopped taking it altogether...:happydance:

Hi rockstar, so glad af finally came for you! Its a tough one to know whether its because you stopped taking vitex or because it had built up in your system, im having the same dilemma as to whether to continue it also as i haven't really had and signs that ovulation may occur and im cd45. Longest cycle has been 75 i think.

I imagine most people will say continue it if you haven't taken it for more that 3 months but only you will know how you feel when taking it so i say just go with your instinct. When did you say you postponed your appointment to?

I postponed it to June 9th. I feel as though I should cancel it since I was going to see if they could give me something to jumpstart my period or at least tell me a reason as to why it wasn't coming. But since it came either with the help of vitex or just on its own (I guess I will never really know) I think it would kind of be a wasted appointment. I think I want to STop take vitex because it was making me spot like every two weeks which makes me believe it maybe working but I kind of want to see if my body has regulated itself now. I figure if this cycle lasts over 30days I'll know to get more. I just don't wanna get my body dependent on that you know?

Yeah rockstar i know what you mean, i have decided to stop vitex now as after 46 days it hasnt done anything and my cycle is now longer than the last time i ovulated. I am going to continue with the inositol though as i have had no side effects and to be honest i just want my slon to clear now, im sick of all the spots i have had for what feels like ages!!

Maybe i have given up to early, only time will tell but i have my appointment on tge 15th so its not that far away and hopefully i will get some help then also.

Im also going to adopt a paleo lifestyle for a while to see it if has any effect.

What was you cycle length before this 100+ one?

+

29 days im hoping that was just an off cycle the 100+ one and that itll return to that

I don't see why not, just let your body do its thing and im sure you will get those cycles back to normal.

i sure hope your right because that was such a stressful situation. I dont know if ever actually ovulated. I figured i must have at some point because af is visiting but i have no idea when. Im guessing two weeks ago lol. Either way i want to just go back to being worry free...

rockstar its quite possible that it was an anovulatory cycle and thats why AF didn't come till when she did.
Im not sure ttc is every worry free but having a predictable cycle would certainly help, i know that in my situation i would love to have some normality in my cycle. Fx thats what the gynaecologist can help me with.

Keep us updated on how you get on :)
