Hey, I owe little woods around £500 from about 4 years ago (very young and stupid!) and just wondered if there were any catalogues that aren't part of little woods? As I don't want little woods to find me after all this time when my debt will be wiped in a years time.

Suggest you read up about statue barred. If littlewoods have been making an effort to chase you about YOUR debt then it will not be written off. If anythings the debts probably sat with a debt collection agency getting higher and higher and maybe even a CCJ. Contact Littlewoods and sort your mess out before even contemplating taking on more credit (which ill doubt you'll get)

erm but if its your debt you have to pay it back....
Doesn't matter if you were "young and stupid", don't rack up debt if you can't afford to pay it. Plus, you are trying to get more credit?

Maybe older but certainly not any wiser if you are looking to get another catalogue

Sorry but I have to agree with the other ladies. Dodging a debt and then trying to get more credit really isn't the wisest move.

Completely agree with the other ladies... Morally you should pay this debt off before buying more things on credit.

I think you should just contact littlewoods to sort it out, you never know when it will creep back up on you.

Most catalogues that I know of are all connected to Shop Direct which is littlewoods, very, kandco etc.

Completely agree with everyone else. I can speak from personal experience.

Had an account with laredoute. Thought I'd paid it off in the last payment. Moved house. Didn't bother to change the address, as I wasn't using the account and honestly thought I'd paid it off.

6 months down the line, a debt collector letter got redirected from the estate agents to my new address. I'd stupidly left the account in a few pound in debt.. It built up with late payments to £83. I paid this off instantly as soon as I knew.

It wasn't until I tried to get a mortgage 3 years later and it got declined that I found out that I actually have a default on my credit file that's not due to be removed from my file till 2015, unfortunately leaving me not been able to get credit anywhere!! Even simplest things like a catalogue. And more importantly putting on hold me and OH getting a mortgage.

As you can imagine I double check all accounts to make sure there paid off.

It's just the catalogue I have debt with I've paid off credit cards and everything else so please don't think I just seek credit then run away from it, I was only asking because I need a new fridge freezer and oven it wasn't to blow the limit and run away, I've been approved for many things since my catalogue so my credit scare can't be that bad. Little woods don't have an address for me or a number so if I ring them there's no way I can pay back the all the money and I don't want debt collectors at my door taking away my TV and everything else I own, we only make enough money to support us with I.e pay bills and buy food. After 4 years I can imagine they'd want a couple grand and I can't afford to pay that amount. Yes if they did it in instalments but they still send someone round to make a list of things to take if you miss a payment and I can't take that risk. I know a lot of you's won't understand and the advice you's gave I'd personally give to someone aswell but I really can't risk loosing everything.

Of course they care about a couple of grand! You can't run away, it will catch up with you. Don't be under the assumption that because they don't have your address or telephone number that it'll be written off. As I explained earlier, if the can prove that they have made an effort effort to chase after it will not be written off.

And if you can't afford a repayment plan then what makes you think you can take on more debt?

get your head out of the sand, stop pretending it will go away and call them.

I've explained my reasons above, I'm feeling I'm getting jumped on and judged so il not be replying to this thread anymore and will be requesting it to be locked as I can only see myself getting upset over the comments even though you's don't mean to sound bad ima very sensitive person and I only asked a question which has turned into everyone jumping at me and possibly even painting a fake picture on me.

Also just so you know Il not be taking out any credit il save up the old fashioned way

Thank you for all the replies, I regret 100% starting this thread hopefully someone can close it soon so nothing more can be said on the matter.

Nobody would be at the door taking your TV. If the old debt is passed to a det collection agency they will be happy to arrange a payment plan over the phone for a minimal amount so don't worry about people taking things from your home it isn't going to happen. Payment plans can be worked out by an income and expenditure sheet or you can just make an offer of something like 20 a month and they are usually willing to accept as most would rather something over nothing. Also don't be so sure that just because they have no address for you they won't be able to find you, it can and does happen, especially as you are reaching a certain time limit with the debt. Debts get sold on from agency to agency and there are debt collection agency's out there that specialise in taking debts nearing the statute barred limit that no agency has managed to chase, they will go all out to find and make contact with you before that time is reached.

It does worry me though that you say you only have enough money to live on but are considering taking on extra debt. I wouldn't recommend it, speaking from personal experience of almost losing my home, I know how easy it is to think everything will be ok if you take on more but if you can't afford anything other than basic living then debt is not for you. Plus with an outstanding default you may not get further credit anyway.

Thank you your post was very helpful will they really accept £20 a month? Last year my oh had a council tax debt that he ran away from it had been passed to a company and I made him ring them and they wouldn't accept anything less then £100 a month and someone came round to the house and claimed a lot of goods so if we missed a payment everything they claimed would be taken to cover the debt, and I really can't afford £100 a month but can afford £20 and would feel comfortable as I know I'd never miss a payment of £20 a month.

Sorry, I don't know anything about catalogues or credit but if you need appliances and don't have the money upfront you could always try a hire purchase contract like Bright House or Perfect Homes. You end up paying back loads more than the item was actually worth so it's not ideal, but good if you're in a bit of an emergency situation and don't have anything saved.
If you don't pay they just take the products back, so you don't get into debt.

The only way to find out is to call them, no one here will know that information. We can only go from personal experience, I used to be in debt and the amount was around 50 times more than yours. My creditors took token payments until a formal plan was put in place.

Sorry u felt like you were being jumped on and judged but your OP didn't set up a positive start. I don't do pink and fluffy when it comes to debt, I've been there and it never helped.

Thanks Kate I looked into brighthouse but have read really bad reviews on them I have decided to save the old fashioned way and get something second hand from pre loved or gum tree for the time being. Anythings better then nothing :) at least then I know I won't have weekly payments etc.

I wouldn't reccomend it Hun. I've just spent the best part of this year paying my off my catolouges and shutting down my accounts... Best thing I've ever done is paying them off and shutting them down.( it was a stupid counterproductive way I dealt with PND, instead of dealing with it I enjoyed the instant thrill of spending and having the stuff delivered:dohh:)

Luckily m Me and Tom could afford to pay it off but there's no way I would buy things that I can't afford to pay back I'd be forever worrying even if it was only £500.

If you phone littlewoods and offer a small amount a month to pay it off they'll set a payment plan for you
