Any medical professionals out there? Labrythitis question

Just wondered if anyone is familiar with this? My mom has just been diagnosed and I am due to go stay with her for a week next week with DS. Apparently she is having constant dizzy spells and finding it hard to leave the house. She doesn't know that I'm pregnant yet and I was planning on telling her when I see her.

I'm just a bit worried about getting this illness from her while I'm there. I had never heard of it till now. Anyone know anything about it? Is it dangerous/contagious?

I think it is an inner ear infection which causes the dizziness (could be wrong) - hope your mum feels better soon

It's an inner ear infection so i don't think you can catch it from her. It is horrid though - my dh had it and he kept falling over his vertigo was so bad.

Its a really nasty ear infection. My friend had this and rang ne talking complete nonsense and she couldn't even walk without falling over!
