Iv heard its a wise thing to do but i really dont like doing it, plus im not sure im doing it right:shrug: id rather have a :coffee: :haha: Im 38 weeks pg and just finished work so have a bit more time so prob will try it again. (dont know whether its too late to even try now?) Im not worried about the birth apart from the thought of tearing  Its all so exciting though isnt it!!! :happydance: I dont want my LO early but cant wait to meet him/her :happydance: xxx Any input would be lovely? also any one else 38 weeks pg? im 38 plus 2days x

Hi there, well I'm 39 weeks today but only 5 days ahead of you! I'm doing my perinuem massage too, like you I have no idea if I'm doing it right!! I don't dislike doing it but can't really tell if it's working so at the moment it feels a bit pointless.. I'm sure it's all doing more good than harm though so I'm going to keep it up!

I'm VERY excited and VERY impatient now - don't want bubs to come out til it's ready but on the other hand I really don't want to go overdue and be induced.. fingers crossed it comes out naturally in the next couple of weeks!

X x

I found this on YouTube...don't know if it helps you girls but I think it does me! :)

thanks purple poirot  not sure iv left it too late  but will have another go :dohh: :haha: How exciting your due next week! :happydance: think thats the 8th. I dont want to be induced either,if it comes to it i will ask for baby to be monitored cause as long as baby is fine and healthy id like baby to come when s/he is ready. Good luck :hugs: x

I asked my midwife and she said their is no proof it works and not to bother, I was so glad as I hated it!

I tried a few times but haven't got a clue if I'm doing it correctly.

brunettebimbo - that video is very helpful - thanks! I must try harder with this!

My sister did it with all 3 of her children and hasn't torn once. She swears by it :)

My OH has been helping me out with it. I've got to say I don't like it at all, it's a very uncomfortable feeling and sometimes quite painful. Does not give me high hopes about the pushing stage if I'm finding this painful!

I tried it at 36 weeks twice and it was awful. Made me feel sore down there plus I'm really sensitive to putting things near that area and cannot have bubble bath etc and after doing it twice in one week I could start to smell my body was not agreeing with putting olive oil down there so stopped. Would like to have carried on as i would not like to tear but I will end up going into labour with an infection or BV if I carried on x

was at my antenatal class today, midwife was talking about tearing, she said its all to do with listening to what your midwife in labour tells you. there will come a point when you'll be told to pant, doing this makes the head come out really slowly and this will completely prevent tearing! she says thats the only thing that will lessen the risk of tearing and didnt advice doing the massage at all! so dont worry if it isnt for you :hugs:

I didn't bother as it didn't seem worth the effort. My baby came out (all of him) on the 3rd push anyway, so it would have been a waste of my time.
