I weigh over 200lbs, wear a size 16/18 in US clothing, I'm 21 and I am trying to conceive my first chitlin!

I'm looking to talk to other bigger girls starting their TTC journey. I feel like I worry about things that fitter people don't have to worry about, and just want to chat with women in the same position, I suppose!

Anyway- I'm Jess. Looking forward to talking to more ladies! :)

Hi, I'm Jo. I'm a plus size girl too. Over 200lbs and we've been TTC for 4 years. I've been away from the boards for a while as it all just got a bit much but now I'm back as I've realised we're in it for the long haul. We've spoken about IVF to the docs and to get any assistance I have to lose weight, so that's not something that's going to happen quickly.

There are so many things I worry about that I doubt more average sized women worry about so it's good to know there are others out there like me!

Hello ladies. i am 22 years old and currently i am 180 pounds. i came from 200 to 180. My husband and i have been ttc for over a year and a half and it has not been easy. I was told by my fertility specialist that i have pcos which makes me have irregular cycles and which means you dont ovulate to be able to get pregnant. Have you ladies seen a specialist at all? I was also put on clomid 150mg for five days and got ton of blood work done. Ladies we have to stick together and try not to give up and because we have weight dont mean anything because there are women who isnt big who have issues getting pregnant also... so dont feel bad...

I am 27 and a size 16/18. I was diagnosed with PCOS in January and have been slowly trying to lose a few pounds here and there. I am on Metformin and was put on 1500mg recently. I am so glad I am not the only bigger girl on the boards.

I am hoping for the best for all of us!

No your not a lone and i also have pcos and it is very hard due to we dont have normal cycles and we also dont ovulate. I am currently on metformin 3 times a day and i just finished my clomid. I am hoping we all stick together in this thread because we all need the support. How long have you been ttc? Are you seeing a specialist?

I am a very plus size lady, we have been ntnp since April 11 and we started ttc this year. I have very irregular and long cycles (see my chart!) and the doctors always put it down to my weight. I have a huge amount to loose but it just won't shift. I have a drs appointment in an hour, I'm gettin blood taken to be checked for thyroid, hormones etc. really scared as to what the result will be :(

Im 23 and well over 200 lbs. a size 20 and we are trying to conceive our 1st. Im trying not to get to stressed as we have just started actively trying since Dec. before that we were NTNP but my husband had a crazy work schedule which made BDing far and few between. We are trying the SMEP together with preseed for the first time this month so Im really hoping this is our month I have heard great things about this combination! I ordered my supplies and it should be here tomorrow and we will start tomorrow :) Im pretty excited :)

Don't be scared. Whatever the result you will be able to formulate a plan moving forward. I know it's easier said that done too, but if you worry too much that can be just as much of a factor.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the reassurance :) I suppose I am a bit relieved that everythings being checked but I just panic and convince myself that they're gonna find something majorly wrong with me, whether it's ttc related or not!

NewMrs2011 - That is a reason I really dislike going to the doctor! Always afraid that something horrible will come back, and tbh I'm the type of person wanting to continue living happily without knowing, lol. How horrible is that?! I'm only like that with doctors/dentists though. Still, totally bad.

My partner and I have been NTNP since November, but this month I bought OPKs (they arrived this morning) so I think we're officially in the TTC stage. So this is my fourth month with no BFP!

I haven't been to the doctor about it because we're honestly not in any rush. We've got "time on our side", as they say. And it's only been 4 months, and supposedly it takes a HEALTHY couple up to 12 months to conceive? It has been a struggle to watch so many of my friends announce their pregnancies during this time, even worse than when I was just WTT! :(

I do wonder sometimes if its taking so long because I'm heavy, and my OH is a little heavy. Most of my friends are tiny and they got pregnant literally their FIRST MONTH of trying! So it does cross my mind!

The things I'm more worried about are like... scans when I'm pregnant. Will they be able to see through my blubber? Will my back suffer more because of the pregnancy? How much weight will they allow me to gain for baby, and do I have to gain any at all? Lol! Also curious as to when my bump will be visible. :(

Anywho - so glad there are other ladies out there like me! :)

I haven't seen a specialist but I am taking Metformin three times a day starting Sunday. Hoping it helps.

I think exactly the same things. I look at skinny baby bumps and their bellies are so smooth. I'm convinced that if I ever get a bump, it will have layers of fat over it and people will think I'm having triplets. On the positive note, I knew a lady at slimming world who carried on going when she was pregnant and she only put on 9lbs throughout her whole pregnancy as she lost her weight and put on baby weight. She ended up being so healthy and the baby was perfect!

So there is hope xx

hi ladies,
can i join you. I am also overweight and have PCOS, bmi 25.3, my first gynae told me to reduce weight.. my height is just 5 feet and now weight 125.6 lbs.
I have now joined fertility centre who will evaluate and treat, till now no medications taken, even not sure of when i ovulate or not.. tests are going on TSH and prolactin, I need to loose 8kg weight.. I am really worried as I am of 30 yrs and want to be mom soon.

I am plus size as well. I just had day 3 hormone testing but I don't have results at this point. We have been trying for 10 months with no luck.

It is so nice to have extra support here.

I think if it takes more than a year, I will probably get seen by a doctor/specialist.

My friend predicts it'll be May when I get pregnant, so I'm not going to worry til then, lol!

Hi, Im a plus size TTCer too. Currently im 229 but its slowly coming down.

I have to get my BMI down to 30 before i even get looked at so....i have 5stone to go...

Good luck ladies :flower:

It's so nice to hear that I'm not the only one with these worries!

I have heard a lot of good things about people following the Slimming World plan when ttc/pregnant. I believe it's one of the only diet plans that medical professionals recommend when your ttc/pg too. I would be keen to start following the plan and see if it helps me shift the pounds. I may have a chat to my doctor about it next week when I go back to discuss my blood test results.

It seem so much harder to get pregnant when your a plus size women but we arent out. i myself get tired of always seeing a bfn... I see everyone around me family and friends pregnant and i am happy for them but jealous at the same time. I just finished my clomid on friday and went yesterday for my follicle size check and of course they werent big enough... so tomorrow i go again hoping things change but if not i will be doing clomid for another 5 days... ladies fx that we will get our bfps soon

I would do it, what do you have to loose? It's not a diet and I've never eaten so much or so well before! I lost 8lbs in my first 3 weeks which will slow down to around 1-2lbs a week, but that is healthy. Added to this, eating the right healthy things can only help with ttc.

If you get PG they adjust things slightly for you and it becomes just a tool to help you manage your food more healthily.

I say go for it, it also makes you feel happier and cleaner :flower:

I feel like half the time I'm infertile. Not only do I have PCOS. I feel like everyone thinner than me is getting pregnant and I am some fat ugly blob who can't get pregnant.

*sigh*

It's really hard sometimes.
