I'm transferring exactly 1cc of liquid to the powder but after it's mixed and I draw it up its always short! What am I doing wrong? Does the qcap work better or just using a needle?

We always used a qcap when mixing ours. But know that some of the water will be absorbed by the powder, so it does look like less when drawn back up. I think our nurse had us use 1.5 cc of water for that reason. But it doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. Maybe ask if you can add a little more water to mix? Don't worry about it diluting the drug--I don't think it does. Ask your nurse though. :)

Thanks for the tip! I had to throw away the mixture because it was short and start over again.

Hi xpinky,
I use the qcap too and this happens. Some liquid must just stick to all the different vials and parts. There is a little extra menopur than the 75 dosage in each bottle to account for the slight loss in all the transferring around (according to the insert). If you are seeing significant loss in liquid (like half?) I'd call the nurse to ask if something is wrong, if only to ease your mind. The meds matter more than the liquid to dissolve it in, but you definitely want as much as you are mixing.

I'm seeing a 2 line difference. That makes me feel better if there's extra in each bottle. We tried the qcap it seems to be easier and less air bubbles.

It's completely normal to draw up less to inject after you combine!

(do not add water -or anything for that matter- to make up the difference as it isn't sterile!)

To clarify, when I said water I was referring to the sterile liquid. My nurse called it water, so I do too. I assume you know better than to mix in water from your tap. ;)
