I had the day off work today and have been feeling abit guilty about it :/

I have been suffering from constant nausea since week 5 and that mixed with total insomnia is making working impossible, i work in an office and staring at the computer all day really makes me feel worse. There is also a lack of parking at work and when im on the later shift there is no where to park so i have to arrive at work 3hrs early just to park!

I dont live close by and if i used the bus/trian to get there i would still need to get there early, im going to try get a parking permit for the car park but this isn't guarenteed.

Anyway i just couldnt face sitting in a warm office feeling sick and dizzy all day so took the day off, my boss knows im pregnant and seems to be really understanding but i can't help but feel guilty.

Has any1 else had time odd due to morning sickess/exhaustion and how did your employers react? x

Hi. I too am curretnly off, although it is kind of a combination of things, as I am also currently suffering from a severe cold.

I told my boss I was pregnant before christmas (literally as soon as I found out), as I knew I would have quite a few doctors appointments etc. I had already been seeing a fertility specialist to get this far....

Anwyays, the 2nd day back at work.... i was so sick with morning sickness, My boss and the owner of the company drove me home as they were too concerned for me driving myself.

Then last week (whcih was only my second week back), I left early on the thursday, didn't go in on the friday, adn am also off today.

So with a total of 9 working days, I have been off for 3 of those :(

I feel really guilty but I am keeping my boss informed. I am currently on anti-sickness tablets as my mroning sickness is so bad that I am struggling to keep water down. If it doesn't work than i will be on injections or something, although touch wood, I had lunch about 4 hours ago, and it's still in me! :happydance:

My boss is being absolutely amazing, he says he doens't care about hte work, he just wants me to be healthy and produce a healthy baby. :) He said to go back when I feel better adn if I want to reduce my hours then we can discuss it etc. He also said that if when I go back I'm struggling, to let him know and he will divert work away from me.

I know that is great adn so supportive... but as I the assistant accountant, it basically means that the only other people who can do it is the accountant or my boss the finance director. :haha: and to be honest.... I think they have enough on hteir plate with our year end etc coming up.

All I can say is just be honest with your employer, and show that you are making an effort regardless of how you feel. For example, I can get on my e-mails from home, so I check tehm and reply to anything urgent.

Anyways, I hope you feel better soon. x

Hi hun, I've just gone back today after 2 weeks off I'm a bit the same I work in an office too and have had awful sickness from week 6 I'm still being sick in the morning and feel like death but thought I'd better try and get back to normality otherwise I never will!!! Don't feel guilty though poppet there's no action that can be taken against you if its pregnancy related, I've found this pregnancy really draining as do a lot of woman so I really wouldnt worry just rest and look after yourself xxx

Gosh with my daughter I was sent home every other day because I was GREEN! I was fine till 14 weeks then suddenly I became a vomit machine!
Don't feel bad, you're pregnant! You have another life inside you... they gotta give you some leniency to feel a little off xxx

Thanks so much for sharing this, your boss sounds really supportive :) mine called me about an hour ago just to see how i was, i said i would go back tommorow but she said if i didn't feel up to it i didn't have to so thats abit of a relief!

I told them at 6 weeks, i havent put this in writing yet but iv already had time off for ante-natal appointments so they are fullly aware x

I had alot of time off sick with ms. I too felt really guilty but your body is going through such alot give yourself a break and dont force yourself to go to work if you're not up to it. I was off every other week for a week at a time, i'd drag myself in after a few days off, spend most of the time in toilet vomitting (which sounded awful to my work colleagues who im sure dont want to hear me retching and vomitting) then i'd stand and cry for a bit coz i felt so rubbish and then go off sick again for a few days!

I'm nearly 10 weeks with twins.. I've had MS sooo bad for the past month. I left my job (liquor store). It was so bad I didn't leave my bed for 2 weeks.. I'm starting to feel better THANK GOODNESS, and am looking for a new job.

This will be my 3rd week offwork due to "morning" sickness....whoever invented the term it just happens in the morning....rubbish!!

Ive had severe sickness ALL day. from the moment i open my eyes until i go to sleep at night. I wake up during the night feeling sick too. barrel of laughs!!

Ive been on cyclizine, metroclopramide and now today buccastem is been that bad.

Im a nurse so im on my feel constantly and couldnt cope. I went in today cause i thought maybe i will be alright. i lasted 2 hours. my line manager has been..ok..concerned but more just wanting me to get back to work.

IM 11 weeks on thursday so hoping its going to ease soon. ive lost 9lbs.Im a size 8 normally so this is alot of weight loss for me.

I feel so down, i was so excited about trying to get pregnant and its all gone. me and DH havent had "loving" in about....i dnt even want to count :( im so embarassed by that but i cant cause i feel so rubbish

xxxxx

Aww hun you sound like you are having a really tough time of it! most people have told me it eases by 12 weeks so i hop this is the same for you!

I am off work again today, like you i feel nauseated all throught the night so im like a zombie in the morning, tbh im already feeling alot better from having two days off just resting so im glad i took it off.

I am not actually sick that often, instead it's just constant nausea and running to the toilet, i also feel dizzy, the best way to describe it is hungover

I never expected the 1st tri to be this hard either but im holding on to the theory the 2nd tri gets easy and some people even get a burst of energy!

Oh and don't worry about the intimate time with your dh, we have 'done it' once since i found out i was pregnant, he nags all the time and i feel really guilty but im honestly not in the mood, it is causing abit of tension between us but he's just going to have to understand! xx
