The town centre where I work is on a hill and I work at the top of it.

For a while now I've been walking to the bottom of town and back up again whilst on my lunch break in an attempt to have a little bit of exercise (My usual exercise is riding my horse which I haven't done since I found out I was pregnant).

I've noticed this week I'm really starting to struggle with coming back up the hill. I feel tired, a little out of breath and even my legs feel like it's a struggle :-(

Does anyone else feel like this? I was wondering if I've really lost my fitness that quickly or is this a pregnancy related thing? I'm 16 weeks pregnant.

Thanks xx

I feel the same way. I didn't really exercise much any way but i did walk a lot but have noticed the same as you. When I am walking my son to or from school I feel really exhausted. I was lazy today and took the car but I think it must be the pregnancy! I was a smoker before I fell preggers and I didn't get out of breath walking, I have obviously now given up and it's like I smoke 60 a day the way I get out of puff sometimes x Just want to  constantly aswell!! x

Haha I get worn out easily too. I get so out of breath. I make myself feel better by telling myself it's because baby is squishing my lungs lol

I feel that way when I go up the stairs to get to our apartment, however, I did pretty good on our hike the other day. It's just certain things that affect me now.

hiking!! Wow! Good for you, wish I could go for a hike. I am so lazy these days, have to drag myself out of bed to walk my son to school and even then it's only a 10/15 min walk each way! make myself do it though because I have to do something to help prevent too much weight gain, have already put on 11lbs and I am only 16 weeks!!!

Cheers ladies,

I feel constantly knackered too, it feels like my age has doubled in the past couple of months, lol.

Srrme - hiking is definately seriously impressive. I think I've achieved something when I've put the hoover round the lounge ;-) x

This is pregnancy related. It is caused by increases in blood volume and your heart and lungs having to work harder. Later it can also be that the lungs have less room to expand in the chest cavity, due to your expanding uterus. It does not mean you are unfit. Sometimes women can be anaemic, which can make breathlessness worse. Check you are not anaemic with your midwife.:flower::thumbup::hugs:

Thanks wubba :)

When I had my last set of bloods done I wasn't aneamic but I'm due to see the midwife again in a couple of weeks.

Do you get tested for aneamia again as a matter of routine or should I ask? x

Oh yes I have this ...its kind of embarrassing even though I know its normal Lol huffing and puffing around the place like an old woman of 90 and Im only coming 22 weeks Lol

I know! This is my first and I was kind of expecting to feel like that at 8 months but I had no idea it started so early, lol x
