Only found out today that OH has this, big time :(
One of his samples 100% were affected.

 :hugs:

My husband has terrible anti-sperm antibodies because he had a vasectomy when in his mid-20s (more than 20 years ago). After having a reversal 3 years ago, there was very , very low motility rate. Could count with my fingers. He had to go through another operation to extract sperm (mesa/tese) instead. He's done several Sperm Assays and I do realise the smoking makes it worst, and choice of foods too. It's always better to eat foods cooked from fresh meats/vege instead of processed foods due to the chemicals and toxins in it.

Wishing you all the best.

do they test for this as a matter of course in a SA? or is it something that is requested? i really don't know about my DH, it was never mentioned in his results.

Hi there, my DH has this. He had about 50% of one type and 20% of another type. The antibodies can be attached to the sp's head, tail or be mixed (on head and tail) and where they are can be significant. I have read that head is worst cos this can stop fertillization.

We were told only over 50% of antibodies was significant enough to affect fertility, but when we did IVF we had zero fertilization and I do wonder if this was a factor or the main factor. My age is against me too. However, we had much better results with ICSI and got good embroyos, although I did not get pregnant. I guess if you two have got pregnant before, that offers hope that it can happen again. I expect each case is different. There are also things he can do to improve sp quality and there are things like ICSI, where the best sperm are chosen, to help too. I will try ICSI again when I'm ready. Good luck. xx

My OH had 90%-100% on one type over the three smaples and 50%-65% on another. . .

That doesn't sound great does it :(

We're going to go for ICSI

I asked my FS about this test, as we didn't have it done with our SA. She said it's an expensive & complicated procedure & not done as a matter of course.
I think it must vary from country to county, as to who gets it. I'm in Devon x

Hi

We have anti bodies too, and have just started 2nd fresh cycle of ICSI.

Our NHS SA didn't test for anti bodies and actually showed a really good count (NHS dr told us it was super human!), we were referred for IUI and the private clinic tested for anti bodies and found a huge % present and advised us to go straight to ICSI.

We were really cross as the NHS had given us the impression there was nothing wrong and we were left for months trying when infact our TTC effects were never going to work - we had never heard of anti sperm anti bodies until then :dohh:

Saying that we did get a couple of really good embryos but our previous treatment hasn't work - we're hoping we'll be lucky this time.

Wishing you all the best for your next step :hugs:
