hey everyone,
I'm kind of new on the boards although have been lurking for forever. I am having my first IUI this cycle - I saw there were threads for Sept and August Iuis and wanted to see if there is anyone else cycling this month??

Maybe we can keep track?

BFP!!!!
Jen1019 - IUI #3

I am! I expect to O on October 25 :)

It's my first too. They also put me on Clomid, they said it helps the success rate.

Hey Tribble, I am on femera for the first time this cycle. Tomorrow I go in for my cd 10 ultrasound to see when I will trigger.

I am in Canada too - ontario!

Hey ladies! I've been through 2 IUI's with Clomid, which were unsuccessful. They aren't scary, it's just like having a pap smear.

I am thinking my IUI will be this Saturday. I have been on Gonal F injections days 4-13, and will have an ultrasound tomorrow. Hoping this does the trick! Fingers crossed for all of you ladies.:hugs:

My birthday is Oct 19th, so I am hoping to get my BFP then!

jen1019 We both have unexplained infertility and I notice you took clomid as did I and then you jumped up to a IUI is that because you wanted it? Or the doctor?

I'm doing a donor IUI this month. Going for my CD3 bloodwork and ultrasound on Sunday and hopefully will get the green light to get started with my clomid.

Hi Jen, did you have your IUI on yesterday? How many mature follies did you have? Good luck!
I am triggering tonight (eek! first time doing injection) then IUI Tuesday morning!!!

It was a bit of both. We had been trying for over a year when we went to the RE, and that was his plan of attack. My insurance covers IUI, and he says that he generally has a better success rate when doing both. So that's what we went with. He was only willing to do 2 Clomid cycles, as he is not a fan of the medication (nor am I). Only 15% of the pregnancies at our RE office come from Clomid, versus 85% with injectables.

I had my IUI on Saturday, and all went well! I was a little bummed, because we only had one follie that we thought would be big enough, as it was 17. There were several smaller ones at around 11 and 13, that wouldn't be big enough to release. You do your trigger yourself? How did it go? A nurse at the RE's office triggers after my ultrasound, day before my IUI. Both my RE and I were kind of bummed that there was only 1, he thinks he was a little too conservative with the medication, but he was concerned about multiples because we are unexplained. I guess we know for next time if this cycle doesn't work! In better news, I was surprised to see my DH's sperm count was over 40 mil post wash, which is 28 mil higher than the last two times. Fingers crossed!

Let me know how the IUI goes... I am sure it will be fine! :hugs:

Thanks and good luck to you - 2ww now!

I did trigger myself - was so nervous but it was a piece of cake. Kind of makes me less worried if we move to injects or ivf.

I also have only 1 follie as of yesterday morning. it was 2.1, the second largest was 1.6 but it doesn't seem to be growing. I am on the max dosage of femera and also unexplained so not sure what the next steps would be.

IUI tomorrow morning at 8.30am!

Thanks!

Noel- The trigger shot is not bad at all. I usually don't even feel it. And with the injectables, they are not that bad. I actually preferred them over Clomid. Because I had no side affects with the injectables, it was just more of a nuisance than anything else. I was on Clomid before and had a lot of side affects. Any major side affects with the Femera?

GL tomorrow morning!

Hi Ladies! I saw this and wanted to post. I am having my second IUI this week depending on how my Ultra sound goes on Wednesday. I as on my clomid last week. I am hoping this round works! Last month was the same clomid, ultra sound, trigger shot and IUI without success.

Hi ladies!
I was wondering if any of you minded if I attached myself to this thread...
I also (like you Lindsay) am on my second round of IUI.. Tomorrow is CD10 ultrasound and bloodwork..and IUI will most likely happen Friday or Saturday.
I've taken to the process well I believe...although I have some questions about Clomid. I see that a lot of women don't like it, why is this? The only side effect that I've really noticed with the Clomid is a sever headache...like blinding headache! Is that common for woman? If DH and I don't get a BFP this cycle I think I'm going to discuss with my RE moving onto injectables a cycle early...I don't think I can handle these headaches anymore.
Good luck to all of you ladies!

Welcome Vitabella and Lindsayb721!

Hey Guys, I have updated my original post so we can keep track of all the BFPs we are going to get!!

Jen - Femera has no side effects at all, I have never been on clomid though but heard it can be pretty bad.

Vitabella I have the same headaches! This round I starting taken the clomid at night which made them a little less severe. But I do agree with you. I am going to approach injectables if I don't get a BFP this cycle..

Hi girls,

Can I join in? I am in my early 30's and this is going to be my first month doing an IUI. I am going to do an ovidrel/trigger shot and clomid. My DH is in his early 40's and has a low sperm count due to getting his 14 year old vasectomy reversed. I had surgery on 08/29/12, hysteroscopy to remove a polyp from my uterus and lap to make sure my second fallopian tube was open, and it was so I have 2 open tubes, But the Dr discovered mild Endometriosis and scar tissue, and he removed it during the surgery. I am in tip top TTC condition right now. My only concern is that over time the Endo/scar tissue might return so I am trying to make the most of my cycles following my surgery so my first step is my first round of IUI. Wish me luck!!

There are a lot of possible side affects. I had a lot with Clomid. It can affect your uterine lining- mine was barely to where it should have been (at 8, around CD14), I am prone to migraines and I had a few while on the Clomid, plus I was an emotional wreck! Crying at the stupidest things... it was a rough 5 days while I was on it. DH knew to steer clear ;) Also, some nausea.

Welcome Vitabella and Lindsayb721!

Glad to hear that the Femera doesn't have the side affects like Clomid does.

Hi Guys, well I had my IUI this morning and am kind of disappointed. First we only have 1 mature follicle, second the post sperm wash was only 6m. I know it only takes 1 but I see numbers of 50m etc online.

Question for those of you who have done iuis in the past - when did you BD before and after the iui?

Noelcallum- No worries it only takes one! Fingers crossed that this is your round!

As for the BD, I had a bloodtest at my DRS office 2 weeks after. That resulted in a BFN. The 2ww is the longest! If you want to chat let me know! I am having my IUI this week so we are waiting around the same time. Baby dust your way! :dust:

Noelcallum - 1 mature follicle and 1 sperm is all you need..but of course we'd like the odds to be in our favor with more :winkwink:
As for the BD...DH and I were told to regularly BD until they tell us not to...which was the morning of the trigger shot (I took at 6pm on Th) and then IUI was Sat morning. And after the IUI they said we could BD that night, that they recommend it...
We didn't because I was taking the "Smurfette" pills and was just not in the mood... but we are going to BD after this time - IUI should be late this week/weekend.

Oh, Noel, I'm sorry that you were so disappointed with your IUI. I have only had one cycle with two good follicles (I ovulated too soon that cycle, and it failed). I only had one mature follicle this cycle. Normally, our post wash count is around 12m. Hang in there! We can suffer through TWW together.:hugs:

We normally BD 3 days before, and then try to the day after, or day of IUI. This cycle we only managed to BD Thursday night, and then IUI was Saturday AM. I feel ok with this, as his count was over 3x normal.
