Hi ladies,

I am 14 weeks now and started with aquarobics yesterday and love it. I got a routine for exercising on a ball with dumbells as well and allowed to do 20-40 minutes on a treadmill. I say allowed because I am working under a qualified midwife. Lol she also told me that I am welcome to join her pilates classes from next week on which I do consider on doing. She told me to stay away from squats and lunges.

Now, what I would like to know is what is your routine and what exercises do you do? I would like to do some of my exercises that is safe at home when I can't join the classes. I do have an exercise ball and eleptical at home. Can I maybe do steps or is that considered a no-no?

sounds like you've got a good regime! I just tend to YouTube pregnancy workouts, the ones by Denise Austin are great a she's a little bit cheesy but good for motivation! There is some squating and lunges involved but not with heavy weights or for too long, the leg stamina will help with labour for sure!
If you mean step aerobics then yeah I don't see any problems with that as long as you're not completely out of breath!

they say everything you have done pre pregnancy is safe, so I go to the gym at least 3 times a week, do cross trainer, steps, bike and weights. I also go swimming twice a week.

Thanks ladies. I stopped for 4 months so need to start over and can't fall into a strong routine again. So looking for saver options.

I live in a remote area in the mountains so no step classes for me. But I do a lot of steep hiking, jogging and biking. I'm also loving my prenatal yoga DVD - it feels sooo good!! When I asked my MD about activity, she said because I was so active before it doesn't matter what activity I do or how high my heart rate gets, as long as my heart rate can easily come down. So I take lots of little breaks and make sure I bring my heart rate down and then start back up again. Maybe you could try one class and see how it feels? If you've always been active, I'm sure you'll know if it feels right or not :)

Why no squats and lunges? I probably do about 100 a day!

I've carried on pretty much as I was except my weights are max 5kg now and I had to stop running at 21 weeks (low lying placenta). So I'll do yoga, body weight exercises, a dumbell routine and some pregnancy DVDs. Am planning on starting aquanatal with a friend in a few weeks. SPD was really bad last pregnancy so I'm trying to keep it at bay this time. So far I've only had a few twinges when doing certain exercises so I've modified as I've gone along.
