Anyone else getting tired of the 6 weeks holiday??

My 5 year old is constantly "bored" and getting on my nerves..
He is following me round "i want to go on the xbox with daddy" ( evan tho my OH is buisy painting ) i sit down with toys but no im left playing on my own i read a book and he runs off all he wants to do is play on his xbox. im half tempted to let him go on it just for half an hours silence.
To make matters worse he has to have an extra 2 weeks off due to a cock up with his change of school and statment due to ASD.

:growlmad:

i am in full agreement with you here. i love my son and love spending time with him but as he has disabilities, he can't go out with his friends, kick a ball about or any of the things a 12 year old does.

the first 2 weeks brilliant but for the last 4 weeks i have had to put up with his nasty remarks and constant cheek - he's been a nightmare. roll on 6th september and the peace it will bring. my flags will be flying high as soon as he is dropped into school!

At least i know im not the only one thinking that haha xx

hi im new here and just read this thread!! im in total agreement with you, my son is driving me crackers with hes 'im bored' and 'ive got no1 to play with' comments lol.. love him loads but he deffo needs school now.. something to put all of hes energy into!!

Im so jelous of you. i still have to have my son off because of the cock up and hes been left without a school for about 10 working days(thats if they get their asses in gear). Its evan worse now as he sees everyone walking past in the morning and keeps asking when he can go back to school :( xx

We all know about the lazy days of summer, a time in which many kids can be bored and get out of the habit of study and homework. I know, I have kids myself. I suggest you send them to a camp. A place where they can be productive with their time. I sent my kids last summer to a military summer camp. Aside from all the outdoor activities and sports lined up, there are other benefits to come from this camps. First, they will learn self-discipline. This will be very important for them as they grow up. Second, they will learn to become leaders. They will be taught how to become a good and trustworthy person. Lastly, teamwork is another trait they can learn from this camp. They will be working alongside other kids like them so they will be doing activities where they will be honing their skills in working together.

So think it over and decide. Good luck :)

That's a great idea.

I'm a member of a church where we live and there are several camps that area linked with it that i will be looking at to send my two to when they are old enough.

As things stand at the moment the 6 weeks holiday isn't long enough for me. Yes they drive me mad at times but i would much rather have the lazy days than have to force them out of bed in a morning to get them to school.

well little update, he is still off school 3 weeks on. they have NO school places in any of 4 schools in our area and none are willing to take him on. the LEA are just as useless and are now saying instead of going back into year one he might have to go into a reception class as there are less numbers and no other children with special needs. But they have to get some sort of legal documents to enforce them to take him. Its doing my head right in. I would get a fine or prison if i wanted to take him out for 3 weeks for a holiday or something yet they seem to think its ok becuse there is no spaces grrr.

I would send him to a camp but i find it hard to trust people i dont know around him as his needs are very unique. xx

Did he do reception year at the school you are trying to get him into ? If so how come he doesn't have a year 1 place?

No he did half of reception in our old area then we moved house. We got him into a school but it was very poor they was failing him big time (dumbing him down and he was getting bullyed) i complained about them many times and i always had a rude response so come the 6 weeks holiday we choose to change his school. xx

Ah - ok. I really hope you can get him into a school soon. It must be really hard, especially if wants to be learning.

thank you :) i hope so too. Another week and i swear il turn gray haha xx
