Just looking for some other mummies that have babies with feeding issues. My LO has reflux and is intolerant to dairy. He is on Elecare formula (like Neocate) and is happier but not completely, he is still hard to settle at night and it is a fight to get him to drink his milk. It is so frustrating and worrying. I just want him to lie still and drink his milk but he squirms and fusses and cries when i try to feed him. Maybe he needs meds for his reflux.

I went through all this with my other DS and it made me dread having to feed him as i knew it would be a battle to get him to drink. Now things are turning out the same with this LO. Any other mummies dealing with feeding issues?

Yes! It's got much worse recently and now both me and my hubby dread feeds! She fusses, pushes it out, sips it and then turns her head away etc etc. shes on nutramigen as she has reflux but don't think it's helping any more. Would like her to try neocate or something but gp won't prescribe it :-(

Glad i'm not the only one. He had a good day drinking wise yesterday but hasn't wanted his morning bottle and the oz or 2 he took this morning, he threw back up. I am really dreading every feed time now. I am definitely going to pick up the script for his reflux meds today to see if they help. He has also gone back to being a nightmare at night and not settling until 10pm. I don't know what to do any more! He improved dramatically for the 1st few days on the Elecare formula but seems to be going backwards again. I wish i had just stuck with breastfeeding as at least i wasn't stressing about how much he was drinking. He would unlatch constantly throughout the feed though but he is worse with his fussing on the bottle.

My son is 4 months and I'm lucky to get 15 oz a day into him. He is also on Neocate. I am now topping up his milk with baby food as otherwise he would be losing weight!

My DS1 was the same. I had to top up with solids at 4 months or he would have lost weight. These reflux/dairy allergy babies aren't easy. They are rather stressful!

I did, we went through the same issues as you. It was harrrrd, especially in the beginning months; happy to say babylove is happily weaning onto hemp milk and is doing wonderfully!

Aside from her pickinesss :haha:

your def not the only one - we have a very reluctant feeder, (formula) not sure if reflux the issue as very seldom pukes but dis-interested in food in general - each feed is a long coaxing exercise. we celebrate every oz she takes. she's 6 wks, approx 10 lbs, born at 9 lbs. Can anyone advise what is min ozs she needs to thrive? thanks.

I dont know how many oz is required but, hope you girls find ways to improve your babies situation, experienced baby intake problem before but not too long...and it was stressful.

Had this months ago and then she was diagnosed with reflux. It started again 3 weeks ago but I thought it was teething. Got loads worse this week so now she's back on ranitidine and it's making a good difference. She doesn't fight anywhere near as much last couple of days...

Ranitidine doesn't seem to be working for us unfortunately. He is having a terrible time at the moment with his feeding. The ped said the ranitidine should only take 24 hrs to work. I am hoping to get a script for some losec on monday and am praying that helps as i have had enough!

Ach, the first time we tried it, it didn't do anything. But this time it's working. Make sure they've got LO on a decent dose....

I have dealt with this and I know how it feels. Horrible!

First you need to get meds for your baby. If its silent reflux like my LO has its very painful for them so that's why they don't want to eat. It hurts their little throats to drink. My son is much better now but he has developed some kind of bottle aversion so it's still a struggle to feed him. It takes me about 1-2 hours sometimes to drink the whole bottle.

What worked for us was a medicine called Nexium. Ask for that or for something called Prevacid. Gaviscon is crap and Zantac needs to be upped all the time.

Good luck!
