Anyone from the uk work for a job agency?

I'm working for a company in the Hampshire as a temporary colleague but it's on going and there are lots of staff there who are temps and have been there for ages some even years so I'm not too worried about my job at the moment!

The only thing is I've only ever seen 1 pregnant girl there and I don't know if she was a temp or perm ( I don't want to ask really) I'm a bit worried that when i get pregnant they will fire me!
I know they can't fire me because I'm pregnant but they can get around it by saying something like the contract has been cancelled.

We are TTC in feb and I already put the date back by a couple of months when I started So I would have been there about 6 months when we start TTC.

Anyone have any experience or advise with this???

When you signed up for the agency didnt they give you a pack with all of your rights in, i allways have when iv worked for agencys, if not give the hr department a ring, as of october this year a law came in where temp workers and perm staff have to be treated with the same rights etc so you may well be ok, they may not pay u smp but u will get the maternity allowence, i was working for a temp agency when i was pregnant, n i should work the same if your job now comes to an end while your on maternity they are obliged to help you find other work should u wish to return !

Agencies give you maternity pay, my friend worked for an agency then got preganant, her post was ongoing so she was able to pick it back up afterwards BUT it's really up to the people you're working for, since it makes no difference to them who is doing the job.

I know of some people, temping for the on going temps, if the complany likes you enough and think you're worth hanging on to they'd probably let you keep the job, less paper work for them. though there's always a risk that they will prefer the next person and keep them instead. However, they should tell you what's what before you have materinty leave etc so the agency can keep a look out for more work that begins when your leave ends.

I got an email contract and welcome pack but it doesn't say anything about maturity leave in it! I havent decided if I will go back to work yet I just want to know that the wont fire me while I'm pregnant as I will need the money for the baby's things!
