Hey everyone,
My hubbie and I have been trying for 18 months now. My doc has referred us for tests and I wondered if anyone else has has tests on the nhs?? If so, what tests did u have and what stage are u at now? Just wanna share experiences really!!

Xxx

I had tests done on tge nhs earlier in the year im now on my 4th cycle of clomid! I had a scan to check ovaries for pcos etc and internal swabs etc and sent for bloods on cd3 14 21 and 28 ( only had cd28 dye to irregular cycles) all that was on my first appointment at hospital so was really quick as soon as bloods were back they said my progesterone was low which could indicate I wasnt oing properly so prescribed clomid for my next cycle. Oh came with me to my appointment so they tested him as well from 1st appointment
Fx hope all ggoes well for you x

We have an appointment with the doctor on Friday hoping to get tested on the nhs as think that dh has a low sperm count (did a home test). Be interested to keep in touch since we will be going through the same thing.

Thanks kaychikan and ladders! Defo would like to keep in touch on our progress :)
I had my bloods tested on day 21 and I'm ovulating fine, I've had bloods tested on day 3 now and also gotta book in for hsg soon too.
Don't supposed you guys know what they'll do for someone who is ovulating? Pay hubbies sperm analysis came back normals too...

Good luck to you guys xx

Sorry I'm totally at the start of this so no idea what the next step would be. Did you get referred from your gp and where to?

Yeah gp refered me told her how lng we had been ttc and about chemical and she sent my referal off there and then
Gl x

Can I join in please? I got referred on Friday after being off the pill for 12 months. I've had cd21 bloods done already and everything is good. Unsure what will happen now as Doctor mentioned pcos but then said your blood tests came back good and you've no other symptoms so don't worry about that!

Can I ask how quickly things got moving? We have our first initial appointment with gp on Friday 3rd. Am half excited half petrified

I waited about 2-4 weeks for my appoinment at hospital but once I was there he gave me all paperwork for bloods for next cycle I had just recently had a scan forso.ething else so didn't need one of thise which sped things upfor me and he did internal and gave oh specimen tub to rturn all on the first appointment x

I had the day 21 tests, a scan to see what was going on too. DH had to do a sperm sample, and all was ok. This all happened within a few weeks-months so it didnt take too long

I'd like to join you ladies too if that's ok. I'm currently going through tests too. So far I've had bloods done (low progesterone), internal and ultrasound (all normal and no sign of pcos) and oh has had sperm analysis which came back normal. I'm going to drop his results in to my gp tomorrow so he can refer us to a fertility specialist but I've no idea on what might happen next!

Sounds like my results! I'm now on my 4thcycle of clomid
Hope u getanswers soon!

Are your cycles irregular? I'm so frustrated with it all at the moment, can't wait to get to the specialist and get some sort of a plan of action! Hope it all happens soon for you!

Lets see...I was referred by my gp and I had to have the day 21 bloods and an ultrasound before the initial visit. DH had an SA. I think the appointment was 2 or 3 weeks after DH's SA (which was like a month after our GP referral appointment).

At the appointment with the FS, we went over the results of the tests we did before the appointment and DH was told that his SA came back fine. DH didn't have to do anything after that really. lol. I got the paperwork for Day 3 bloods, a repeat of my Day 21 bloods on Day 19 because my cycle is short and I missed the sweet spot, and an HSG, which I did the next cycle. Then we had a follow-up appointment that I booked after I got the HSG done. Everything came back clear and the doc didn't want to do a laproscopy because there weren't any obvious reasons to do it, so we were diagnosed as Unexplained Infertility.

The guidelines changed earlier this year for Unexplained IF. If you ovulate on your own, they probably won't offer you Clomid. No offer of Clomid only for women diagnosed with Unexplained IF because they don't think it makes a difference. The next option is medicated IUI, though I got a three month prescription for progesterone from the doc to see if that would help with sticky-making in the uterus while we tried naturally until IUI time.

I've got my hour-long IUI information appointment on the 8th and then the IUI gets booked in for either the next cycle or the one after that...I'm excited. I'm hoping that this is it for us.

Hope this helps!

We has to persist with our doc, I has to see him several times before he referred us... Then if took about 6 weeks to see the fertility specialist at the hospital. Things are all moving well and I'm due today to get my progesterone results back today (blood work day 1-3).
Now I'm a patient at the fertility centre things are moving in the right direction. I had chosen the luton and dunstable fertility clinic as they seemed to be the best in our area... 80% will come to a conclusion why I am not concieving!

Fingers crossed for all of us!!

Ladies please share when I get ur results and I will do the same :)

I can range from shortest at 24 days and longest 58 with an average 12 day lp which I think has led to my 2 chemicals
Fx that 3rd bfp is a sticky one
I now make sure I temp so at least I know roughly when I o which with clomid this month was cd11

Why did you have to persist with your gp? Have my first appointment on Friday so know its not going to be instant but hoping for things to start happening

DBZ34 could u just explain to me what IUI is, I don't know what this is??

I had to persist because I'm 28 and he wanted me to wait a few more months

Xx

Ahh... IUI is Intrauterine Insemination. I'm doing a medicated IUI, which is what the NHS suggests for unexplained infertility.

Basically, what happens is that you start taking fertility drugs after AF begins (when you start depends on what you take or if you're doing injectable fertility meds) and the doctor monitors your follicle growth. The idea is to have at least two good-sized eggs ready to pop at the same time, but they'll cancel the IUI if you have too many eggs matured.

When your eggs are matured enough, you trigger. In the next day or two after that, your DH goes in and produces a sample and then they "wash" the sperm (pick out the best quality sperm). The sperm are then shot into your uterus through a catheter (like the one they use when they do the HSG), bypassing everything to hopefully get the sperm swimming straight to the egg.

My DH is not looking forward to this bit at all. Apparently, he had trouble getting into the mood in the little room during his SA and then after he was done, the doctor came in and had a conversation with him in the same little room. I guess it was kind of embarrassing. lol. And I'm afraid of needles and will be doing injectables....but anything for a BFP. :)

Oh wow! Everything seems like it moving in the right direction then! So your iui appointment is the 8th jan then? I'll be thinking of you!
Can I ask how long did it take from your 3 day progesterone test to where you are now? I just ask because I'm waiting on my 3 day progesterone blood test results to come back to me.
Do you know how many treatMents of the iui you get?

Sorry for all my questions be put I can see myself going in this direction.

Xx
