Anyone keeping baby's name a secret EXCEPT for on here?

Basically we thought of a name, agreed on it, love it but aren't yet ready for our friends' and family's opinions (that said we have told both sets of grandparents and so far so good) so we decided to keep it a secret from everyone else...the idea behind it was people can sneer at a name in thin air but when they're looking at a beautiful baby and being introduced to the person they're less likely to say anything mean lol - even though I shouldn't care what people think and until these pg hormones kicked in, I wouldn't have done.



My point is I'm bored and feeling sorry for myself and wondered if it'd be ok to share my secret with you heehee Chances are I'm never going to meet any of you in real life so it wouldn't matter if you stole it and if you hated it you're probably too nice to tell me anyway

I choose a name that id loved since a child and decided to share it with the world. Then a close friend decided to call her daughter it... So i found another a this time ive only chose my mum and the BNB world Hehe! x

Nah, we've told everyone lol. Once we had chosen his name we couldn't keep it secret. It also feels more natural to talk about him as "Harrison" or "Harri" rather than as "baby" or "bump" lol.

I'm sure you can share on here though! I love to see other peoples names haha. You might inspire someone who is having problems deciding! Also, I've never had anybody be nasty about a name to me on here, and even if they were you don't know them for real

We have thrown out a few names here and there but haven't given away anything definite. Mainly because we don't have a definite name. We will probably be reading through a name book in the hospital room knowing us. But even if we did know the name I don't think we'd tell anyone. I don't want anyone poo-pooing it before LO is here. People tend to sniff at any baby name they didn't pick themselves but it's harder to do when looking at the little thing in person.

I do feel bad lying to people though...whether I tell them we don't have a name or we do but it's a secret, I feel like I'm doing something wrong by not sharing lol.

hahaha everyone refers to my bump as Eric...it was my first choice because of True Blood but OH said not a chance lol so from then on that's what I've referred to him as...my mum still does even though she knows his real name! It's funny because most people disliked Eric because it's old fashioned but the person who showed the most disgust for it was my 84 year old nana hahaha I thought she of all people might like a nice old fashioned sounding name... apparently not. I ended up telling her it's real name because she was worried I might change my mind and end up actually calling him Eric. Her response when I told her his real name...

"...ohhh that's a name is it?"

We are keeping names a secret. I don't want people to put me off so I just side step the question everytime somebody asks! I tell them a name that I like but can't use because it doesn't go with the surname!

I wanted Eric because of True Blood too lol. DH took a jealous hissy fit and said no way though it's funny how they get jealous over fictional characters and celebrities lol! As if I'd ever have a chance with Alexander Skarsgard even if I met him

My little boy is called Dexter

I can't say it without hearing my nana saying "is that a name, is it?" LOL.
I do enjoy the tv show and have already had my dad telling me it's horrid to name him after a serial killer lol but I had a car named Dexter in 2001, there was a boy at my school called Dexter and also the lead singer from the offspring was called that and that guy from Press Gang when I was little who went onto be in Babylon Hotel. And if people really can't see past the serial killer thing...he's a serial killer that only kills bad guys...that's got to count for something right? LOL.

There I've told my secret...and disclaimered it even though you're a non-judgemental bunch please don't let it slip if you're on my facebook I'll be heartbroken...it's been so hard for me to keep my big mouth shut this far LOL X
