Hi All

Well i am still here and still no baby :nope:

I am overweight and cannot get any help of the NHS till bmi is 30.
So my plan is to get to a bmi of 35, get a private appointment so i can get clomid and give that a go, whilst continuing to get my weight down to a bmi of 30.

So in order to get to bmi of 35, i need to lose a further 17lb!

Anyone want to buddy up?

Yep that would be me! I also can't access some IVF or IUI because DH has 2 kids from a previous relationship!

I can have certain investigations (HSG) but nothing else basically! Literally just had more bloods done on friday and waiting for my first appointment (well, first one this time round) I've had a telephone conversation with the FS nurse and already know what i can and can't access... it sucks! I've seen women bigger than me conceive and carry a baby naturally, yet because we need a little help and are larger ladies we're not allowed!

I have nearly 5 stone to lose to get to BMI of 30 - it's currently 39

I'm taking a break from TTC for work reasons (NOT telling my FS tho!), so no better time to try and shift it... not working though!

this time 2 years ago i was in exactly the same boat, i wasnt allowed any help because i was overweight, my bmi was 37.6 and i was told to reduce it to 30. i worked hard and lost the 3st (i also have pcos). after i lost a stone i tried clomid but didnt react very well so only did 2 months. i tried ovulation induction whilst my bmi was around 32 (i think) but that didnt work. then when it got to 30 i was allowed ivf and was careful with what i ate.

good luck with the weight loss, and just remember why you are doing it.

i think its so unfair that you cannot have a cycle of IVF on nhs just because your partner has children.

I have 52lb (i think) to lose for bmi of 30.
Are you following an eating plan?

This maybe me in a couple of months. My bmi is around 40 though :( im on metformin for pcos but know i wouldnt be allowed clomid until my bmi comes down. Ive lost 8lb in 7 weeks (slowly and steady!) kinda hoping the met will be enough x

Yeah it's so unfair, i had to wait til i was 30 when i was with my now EX before i could access it and our relationship broke down when i was 29!!! DH has 2 kids and now i'm 34 i can't have it in my area.... might have to consider a move if it comes to that!!

I follow Rosemary Conely, but haven't been able to this week, pay day was too far away and it was what ever was cheapest for tea lol (needs must when you have 2 jobs cancelled in 1 month!) Back on it once pay day comes. Lost 4lbs the first week, but haven't dared weigh myself i know it won't be good lol

Maybe we can all stick together through this process?

Well done on the loss, thats briliant.
What does Metformin do?
Hopefully that will be enough.

Yes lets stick together! We can do this.

I tried Rosemary Conely, very strict though for me. However very good results.

Im on weight watchers and i love it. I lost 4 stone in 2008-9 to get married, but then quit smoking, old habits crept in, i wasn't getting pregnant so have been comfort eating.
In the zone now though, even though i have a hetic week next week which kinda makes dieting hard

I lost 4 stone in 5 months on Rosemary Conely when i was with my EX waiting for ICSI. When we separated i lived my life how i wanted and piled 3 stone of it back on over the last 4 years!

I have all the weight watchers stuff here, my friend is a leader and gave it to me for free to help me out, but she lives 60 miles away and i can't get my head around it!

Rosemary Conely is strict for the first 2 weeks then it eases up a little for the next 2 then it's fairly easy. I like it because it gives you the meals for all those weeks day by day and you just swap in and out that suits you.

I'm off to blackpool for the weekend this coming weekend and will be back on it monday - My dad gets married in september so going to try and shift a stone by then if i can!

Hi ladies,

Can I join please?

I have to get my BMI to 30 too for IVF, I also have to wait until I'm 30, but I'm 30 on Friday :cake:. I also have PCOS.

I have been doing my own plan and have lost about 19lbs already but with a BMI of 41 I have a fair way to go.

:hugs:

Gems x

Hi fairy-gem and welcome :-)

Well i have gone right ot track this week :-( and feel guilty about it. So need to knuckle down again

I cant believe that doctors wont even prescribe Clomid when you are overweight. I weight 273lb with a BMI of 40. I was just prescribed Clomid by my fertility specialist yesterday, and not even once was my weight mentioned, and I was with the doctor for an hour.

i know its gutting it really is, it makes me tempted to buy it online but i know that is stupid off me.
Good luck with your clomid and let us know how you get on xx
