Hi ladies! :flow:

Well, where to start.....I'm a band 5 staff nurse, with a full time job on a ward. I've been on maternity leave since last May, and I'm now making plans for returning to work. My hubby will be giving up to work for a while to care for Joe, leaving me to return full time to nursing.
Over the last few months I've applied for jobs in the community, as now Joe is on the scene I don't really want to be working christmas etc. I had the latest "sorry, you were unsucessfull at interview" call this morning. I'm now feeling pretty crap
My next plan is to apply to for flexible working at my current job. I'm thinking of asking if I could work 3 long days, instead of shifts over 5 days. The monthly hours are the same, but worked over less days. I know work will probably say this is not good for safety reasons etc, but last year we were having a lot of work done on the unit and were decanted to another hospital miles away, so we were all put on 3 long days a week to ease the travel burden. So if it suits them, they will do it......?

Anyway, my question is: Does anyone else work long days? How does it work with little one? I'll probably not see him on my working days, but at least I get more time off with him, and hubby could work one or two days a week.
Does it work well? Do you find it hard not seeing little one?

Any help, experience or views would be appreciated

I work 24 hour shifts. I'm not returning to that job and intend to get a different one. It simply will not work and I'd rather admit defeat now. :)

i don't but loads of my coworkers with LOs work 3 long days, they love it and get 4 full days off with their babys.

Thanks ladies, I love the thought of 4 days off, but not so sure about not seeing little one on my working days....plus I'll still have christmas to work. I suppose you can't have it all ways x
