April Mummies 2011

Dana, I think it's the 10th. I think the game is at 11. I'll have to find out what the plan is from my uncle. Maybe we can meet in downtown Madison. I think we're going to tailgate before the game. I think we'll even bring Isis so I don't have to worry about bottles and pumping. Awesome! I'm looking forward to this!

Dana- It was my daughter Emma and the ungodly fit she had when we were leaving the restaurant!!!! There were probably 30 people waiting outside and my child is screaming at the top of her lungs while laying on the floor!!! Then she griped the rails when we tried to leave!!! I was SO embarrassed!! Everyone had their eyes on us!! I'm sure they thought we were awful parents!!! I cried the whole way home :(

Niama- We visit FL at least once a year!! It's about 7hrs away :) I actually live closer to Tennessee!! Lol

awww, i think everyone has been there.

I'm going to take a break from the forum. I can feel myself getting more depressed & being on bnb doesn't help. I think I've gotover the guilt of not being able to bf & then members champion how they were strong enough to get through it. I've been told ff is abnormal & so inferior to bm that my dd is more likely to suffer in life & even get cancer?!

Can't spend her whole life beating myself up so I need to go away and work on it.

Iwill still read up on you ladies & may be back when I've got it together.

Good luck to you all in the meantime.

Oh Hun! Whoever the insensitive, ill-informed bitch was who told you that, they need a serious poke in the eye. Militant breast feeders need slapping :growlmad:

I really can't state this enough and please try to believe it, FF is absolutely fine, you have nothing to feel guilty about and your little one is thriving.

We think you are fab and would really miss you as part of our community, so please, if you feel you must take a break, come back very soon. Take care of you and keep in touch. Please!

i really don't know if this helps any but my mom is an RN and even SHE ff all 3 of her kids (she wanted sleep more so then to bf, lol). all 3 of us have never not once been seriously ill beyond a cold/flu. in fact, most of us only get sick once a year and that's with a cold. if you think about it, she was using formula made at least 29 years ago (that's how old i am and i'm the youngest of the 3), think of how far formula has come in that time!
there will always be the mom's saying how awful it is to ff and frankly, that's why i only read this part of the forum. i don't venture into any other parts because i just don't want to upset myself. i'm supported here and that's all i need/want/desire.

Aww Hun!!!! I'm so sorry. Whoever said hat to you is a bitch!!!! We're all here for you in he April moms. And I'm sorry but bf is not always best (lady is being charged with murder of her daughter here bc she br and used methemphetemines). Tell them to get off their high horse bc your baby IS happy and not going to have any issues bc you are ff. :hugs:

:hugs: :hugs: Mrs-C!

Aleena is 4 months today..WOW!! Time is flying.

Mrs C, dont listen to the bitches! Were here for support so ignore anyone else haha :) But if you feel the need to take a break then take care and we'll miss your posts! xx

Lilly, do Aleena and Ollie have the same birthdays?! Ollie is 4 months old exactly today aswell! :D
Oh and he rolled over front to back properly today! I was so proud considering he HATES tummy time xD

Can someone please read my personal statement and honestly tell me if you'd consider me for an access course with it?
Here it is:
Personal Statement
I am looking to study biological and health sciences because I am hoping to, in the future, go on to University and eventually achieve a career in the health care sector as a radiographer.
I have several reasons for hoping to go into this career, such as; I find science and the human body extraordinary and I am keen to gain as much knowledge as possible in these areas.
I know that science and the human body both work in so many weird and wonderful ways. I would love, and strive, to know everything and anything to do with our bodies. I feel that by partaking in this course will help me to achieve this.
Also, I have had personal experiences recently on the receiving end of care of people within this career and I think it would be very rewarding to work somewhere where I can help others on a day-to-day basis, just as they have helped me.
At current I don’t have any work experience in this sector, however, I am looking around for places that will consider me to job shadow or allow me to gain some experience. This is because I would like to learn as much as possible about the science involved, both in a practical and theoretical manner.
I have searched the internet and read up as much as humanly possible on what the career involves and also been to speak to a Guidance Councillor to make sure that I am one hundred percent certain that this is the career that I want, and the path that I want to follow to get it.
I feel that this course alone will be a challenge but it will definitely be worth taking in the long run if as it will make me feel like more of a success if I manage to gain a place on the course, and hopefully pass. It would be a stepping stone on the road to achieving my overall goal of gaining a prestige career.

Interests / Hobbies
In the past I have attended Air Cadets (ATC) for approximately 3 years. There I picked up skills such as teamwork and leadership. There, I also learnt how to be very disciplined and pay alot of attention to detail. There were many chances to be outgoing and try new things, which I jumped at the chance to do such as flying lessons and partaking in the Duke of Edinburgh award.
In my spare time I also enjoy playing piano/keyboard. I have stayed dedicated to this instrument for several years now, and in the past, I used this skill in order to achieve my GCSE qualification in Music.
I have also taught myself how to code websites using CSS and HTML, which takes a lot of perseverance, patience, time and research. However it is worth it as long as the end result is a good one.

Im so nervous about handing it in and hearing back lol. I REALLY want this course.

Yep, April 7th!

Your personal statement sounds good to me... but who am I.. LOL!

Ah I didnt realise before haha! I should have noticed because of our tickers but silly me didnt xD

And thank you lol. Its a bit long winded but it fills the space its supposed to fill :P

Hi everyone!! Just popping in to see how things are going.

So sorry for those who have ill or injured friends and loved ones. Big hugs and prayers coming your way.

Gem, your personal statement sounds good to me!!

Lizzie is definitely falling into the 4 month sleep regression club. She had been sleeping 8 hours and waking at most once for a quick nibble then right back to sleep. Now she wakes every few hours and is harder to put down to sleep in the first place. Really hoping it's just a phase and passes soon.

She also got her first cold last week. Stuffy nose, slight fever (101.9 at highest) and sneezes and coughs. She's much better now, just a few coughs but she doesn't seem bothered by it. She's up to 14 lbs now so has more than doubled her birth weight.

For those that are struggling with not being able to breastfeed, please remember that your worth as a Mom is NOT determined by whether you BF or FF your child. Both forms of feeding provide nutrition and comfort to your child. I was a 100% FF baby and am perfectly fine and healthy. Lizzie is a BF baby because it worked for us. We got lucky (and there is a huge factor of luck with baby latching on, your milk supply, and the amount of support you receive). If it didn't work out, she would be FF, I would have been upset for a few days, but as soon as she started thriving on formula I'd know it was the right choice for us.

So please, step back, take a look at your perfectly healthy and thriving child and know that no matter formula or milk, you are giving them the absolute best. A happy, low stress momma is MUCH MORE important than what type of food they receive. Big hugs to all who need them!!!

I finally got around to starting a parenting journal and also included my birth story in the first post. You can find the link in my signature.

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

Cheese, thanks for sharing the northern lights link, I'll be keeping an eye on it and hoping southern Michigan can see it soon!!!

Here's a link to the forecast of where you can see the aurora: https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/pmap/pmapN.html
We should be able to see it but I think its going to be rainy/cloudy all night :nope: Look to the north

i don't get how to use it?

Gem looks great but can I suggest rewording a couple of bits? If you dont want to change anything then sorry but I just have a couple of suggestions which I have put in italics

I hope I have made sense, basically the things I would put in I have put in itallics and the things I think you could take out are in brackets. I have written lots of these statements for health care jobs ( I am a sister in A&E) I would strongly recommend emphasising your team working skills and communication skills. I think you have done a great job with this Gem good luck xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Mrs C I will miss you! BF is not best, whats best is what works for you and your baby, FF in my case!
Sorry you have had such a horrible experience on here, I have stopped looking at anything other than the april mummies, I like keeping in touch with the sweet peas who have all been so supportive to me, hope to see you back here soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
So operation yummy mummy is underway....................have started slimming world and went back to spinning today, I will lose this baby weight! figure the sooner I start the easier it will be and I have had 12 weeks of rest now!

Mrs C don't leave us the ppl who have said that to you need to get a reality check. I was a ff baby and never had anything wrong with me. Poppy is a baby and a content soul who is hitting all her millstone early. Please don't beat yourself up about it but if you feel time out from here will help. I look forward to your return xxx

Aww Mrs C don't listen to them - everyone has the right to choose their way of bringing up their child. Daniel is bf but I have now had enough as he plays all the time and I want my body back as just don't feel sexy enough more like a moo cow.

Mrs C... It's so much easier said than done, but please pay no attention to the people who have upset you. I FF pretty much from week 1...Toby couldn't latch, I was barely producing a single drop as a result of him not latching... We were both suffering so I switched, and I'm so glad I did. He's a healthy happy baby and the most smiley baby I know! BF isn't always best, and the ladies in this thread will support you regardless of how you feed your baby.
I hope you're not gone for too long. We'll miss you! xxxx

Jen, good luck with Operation Yummy Mummy! I started a while back and I've lost 29lb but I've still got soooooo much to lose! (My original target was 100lb)
I've actually got a blog (link below) rambling about my losing weight and things.

Mrs C I really hope you don't leave! It really doesn't matter how you feed your baby. My mom only BF me for a little bit and then had to go back to work. DH was FF. I really don't know that many people who BF to be honest.

My co-worker passed away on Saturday. The whole town is mourning the loss. We're pretty sad about it as well. We're good friends with his twin brother so it really hit us hard. They're having a meeting about his death at work this morning and his mom and brother have been invited. If they're there I will not be able to make it through without crying. It all seems so surreal. I just saw him last Saturday when I came into work. He was running equipment in the field.

On top of that, Isis brought home another cold. I'm so miserable and I am in meetings all afternoon. Not a good day.
