April Mummies 2011

My MIL is doing so much better! They said that because the tumor is in the same spot as before it should be easier to get rid of again. Her surgery is Monday. They're releasing her to a rehab facility probably tomorrow. My SIL is looking into the best place to take her to. In the end they expect her to be about 90% of her original self (prior to all brain tumors).

Thanks guys for all your support. Luckily for me Isis can't handle being at the hospital as much so I get to escape from time to time.

urgh ladies :( saw my dads consultant yesterday and he thinks dad is in the later stages of his illness (the same thing terry pratchett has) and that in his experience thinks we're looking at 1-2yrs left

if I didn't have pickle I'd go out and drink myself into oblivion

I know Dad might not follow that pattern, I know there is a chance he'll live for another 10 yrs, but it's still a shock

Thats good news Danielle! Hope her surgery goes well! :hugs:

So sorry to her that, Gertrude...Big hugs to you!!!!! :hugs:

Wow :hugs: Gertrude!

Alot of people are getting cancer all of a sudden, weird!
My stepdad has just been diagnosed and they said he'd have 4-6 weeks left. He's in his 5th week right now and going down hill quick!
Also my DH's stepdad's been diagnosed with the same (colon cancer) and he just had surgery to remove the tumor, 80% has been removed and I believe he'll have more chemo now.

So many family members poorly :( big hugs to everyone. I lost my dad to cancer when i was 16 and he was 46, not a nice thing to go through so i feel for all who's family members are poorly. Life can be so cruel :hugs:

:hugs: Gertrude and lily

That's great news Emmy'smommy and cheese lover!

:hugs: gertrude and naima xx both are horrible horrible conditions to have :(

fab news danielle! xx

well, happened a little sooner than i would've liked, but i'm officially a sahm.

Things are looking good here! My MIL is getting discharged to a rehab facility as soon as we can get the transfer lined up. Her mobility and speaking are both getting better. I hate it because Isis is still sick so she can't hold her. I sit on the far side of her room. She just watches Isis constantly while we're there. She loves her grandchildren so much!
One sad/happy thing is she has always crocheted Christmas stockings for everyone in the family but since she's been sick she hasn't made one for Isis or our nephew so I told FIL that I would do it if he thought she'd be ok with it. So either tomorrow or Sunday I'm going to ask her if she would like me to make the stockings.

Gertrude :hugs: I know it sicks so bad when we get news like this but one good thing that has come from MIL being sick is we have spent so much more time with DH's family. By knowing how close the end is we can make the most of the time we have.

Dana, enjoy the gift you've been given :D Sometimes it's nice when the decision is made for us.

Naima :hugs: Cancer sucks! Colon cancer really sucks!

I'm so sorry to hear about everyone's sick relatives. Sending lots of positive thoughts.

I'm feeling a little deflated today. I made my decision to stop BFing at 6 months so I slowly started to wean Rex off the boob & onto the bottle. I started last week & replaced one feed & this week replaced a second. However my body hasn't taken to this well at all. My supply has diminished in a big way. Plus Rex doesn't seem interested in BFing at all the past 3 days. I don't know if it's due to my supply slowing down or just because he knows a bottle is easier, faster & he can nosey at the world whilst drinking. But I've struggled to get him to feed for any more than 5 mins when a feed is usually 20 mins so he's not getting enough & has been getting hungry a lot quicker.

So from today I'm a FF mummy. A couple of weeks sooner than I planned but it's what I wanted in the end. Still feel sad stupidly! I just have to be proud of the 5+ months I've given him. And learn my lesson with #2 that my supply dries up quickly so don't wean so early!!!

Not got time to catch up properly so just popping by to say hi!

Hugs to all that need them and cancer is a twazzock! :/xx
One of my friends got diagnosed with breast cancer this week so hoping she gets better!
Shes hid away since she found out :(

Anyways yeah. Hope everyone is well! xxxxx

Cheese that's great that things are looking good with your MIL. Stay positive x

Sazzle you've done amazing to BF for 5 months +, wish I could have done it for that long.

Officially started BLW yesterday!
She ate lots of broccoli, a bit of cauliflower and almost one little carrot. :happydance:
She really enjoyed it.

Also since she woke up yesterday she has a red patch on her face.. I think a tooth might be popping soon...!

Sorry to gatecrash your thread but my little boy will be 5 months on Monday and it's getting close to weaning.

Lilly12- did you feed your baby veg straight away or did you start with puree first?, if you started with veg can you advise me what you did.:flower:

no purees, we're baby led weaning!
I'm doing steamed veggies like broccoli, carrot, cauliflower and just put it on her highchair and she'll start picking it up and eating it.
Also she loves banana but it's a little slippery for her to grab so usually I hand it to her.
We also have given her water melon which she loves.

Can't believe she'll be 6 months in 6 days!
