April Mummies 2011

:hugs: Danielle & Dana. x

Rex is kicking my arse in a big way today! He point blank refused his nap this morning. He arched his back when I tried to cuddle him & screamed. After 10 mins I tried him in his cot. Nope, he just messes around. So we had to go off to baby group napless. That was fun!

So I knew he was shattered just now so tried for another nap. Same again. Back arching & screaming for 15 mins! Argh! Why is sleep so horrible to him?! I'd love love love to lay on the sofa sleeping like him!!!

:hugs: cheese and dana.

Sazzle hope Rex gets better soon. Some babies hate naps :(

danielle and dana :hugs:

dana, sounds like a very brave and selfless thing for you both to do, can't have been an easy decision.

danielle take care hun, hope your fil manages this situation better than you think. xx

From us we had SUCH an embarrasing moment today. Was at my friends when my other friend needed me to take her son for a moment while she nipped to the loo as her son had some weird reaction to the playgym that was on the floor.

Anyways I was trying to juggle the two babies and so put alex on the sofa. Suddenly my hand was wet and sure enough he'd pooed and it'd gone all over my friends sofa!!! how bad is that!?! luckily the sofa was brown and she was pretty good about it, but i still feel terrible! i can never again have a problem with her son puking on my sofa, lol!

:hugs: cheese lover, dana and sazzle

We've started weaning in the last week and am really pleased with how it's going so far. Strictly speaking she's still a bit young for blw but I felt she was ready. So far she's tried scrambled egg and toast, homemade burger and wedges, chicken curry and rice, banana cake, salad veg, peach and strawberry. Very little has made it as far as her mouth but she's having lots of fun!

Sorry i havent been on in a while....Work makes it nearly IMPOSSIBLE!! Especially now that im working in Child Protective Services..busy busy!! But a little update: My mom had surgery on Monday to remove the lower lobe of her lung and the doctors are positive they got all the cancer! I seen a picture and to tell the truth our lungs kinda look like chicken breast...lol :haha:

lots and lots of hugs Danielle!! :hugs:

Dana- :hugs: to you as well!! Im doing my internship for Social Work right now so i know how school social workers always assume before they know the details...So sorry your going through all of this! :hugs: again!

My MIL may be having surgery soon. They're going to do some sort of laser surgery. I've been staying away from google searches especially since I don't know details about anything. All my info has been filtered through a couple people before it gets to me. Anyway, the surgeon seemed to think that this was no big deal although that's usually the case with surgeons. To be honest I'm not too optimistic about her long term prospects but if this gets us even a little more time with her I'll take it!

I was getting ready to leave work today and started to close my laptop but then decided I needed to do one more thing so I opened it back up and the right hinge broke! I can't close it all the way now. It's likely I'll be getting a new laptop now. Not the worst thing since I hate my laptop but the timing really could have been better.

Big hugs Danielle and Dana. Really hope the surgeon is right, but I know what you mean about them thinking everything is routine and easy. Dana, I give your DH so much credit for doing what he feels is best for his son. There is definitely no easy choice in that situation, both options have their pros and cons, but sounds like he weighed things and out kept his son's happiness as the main focus.

Danielle, how is the milk donation going, have you started yet? Oh and you had asked what part of the pack n play Lizzie sleeps in, when she does sleep in there it's still the top bassinet part. My pediatrician told us to put her in the bottom at her 4 month check up but at that time she couldn't even sit up. Now she can sit up but can't pull herself up but I'm sure that will be coming soon.

We may go with a queen mattress on the floor for her or just start using the king mattress in the spare bedroom so at least DH and I have some room. Little miss loves to sleep on her back with both arms spread fully out, it's hilarious to look at, but not so funny when you're at the edge of the mattress with one butt cheek hanging off!!

Good to hear from you Emmy's!!

We're off on our long weekend trip without Lizzie. I'm so sad just thinking about it, but I know she'll be fine with Grandma and Papa.

Stacey, I've started to set aside milk that was extra for the past couple months but I haven't actually brought it to the milk bank yet. I was going to today after my physical therapy appointment but decided that I didn't want to deal with it. I'm glad because my therapist was an hour late for my appt! I just made it back in time to feed Isis her lunch.
So I freaked out the other night because Isis was pulling herself up from a semi-reclined position to sitting. That's why I was so worried about her sleeping situation. I'll have in the bassinet when we travel until she can pull herself up. It's so much nicer than the bottom part.
I'm sure Lizzie will do great with her grandparents! Enjoy your long weekend!
Yesterday we took the memory foam topper off our mattress and it was crazy how much better Isis slept with us. I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night and when I came back she was like a star on my side of the bed!

Emmy's, so glad your mom's surgery went well! Funny about our lungs looking like chicken breasts! I've seen lamb lungs - were given to us when we bought a whole lamb - and they certainly look like chicken breasts!

Loopy, what a great eater! I can't wait to let Isis eat whatever. Only a few more weeks.

Caro, LOL! No there's nothing you can say about her son puking on your couch! Sometimes it's incredible the amount of poop these babies make!

Sazzle, I hope Rex settles better for you! Isis isn't much of a napper either but she just doesn't nap long.

Emmy's, that's great news about your mother's lung!!! How is she feeling?

Hi ladies sorry I have not been on here for a while Daniel keeps me very busy. Thanks Jakes Mommy for all the advice about times and weaning he has been having a few bits and loves it to be honest I feel that he could do with another meal so will introduce breakfast next week. Ladies who are formula feeding are you going to go up to follow on milk when they turn six months. Also I ordered some avocado with my online shop do you think it is still a bit early to introduce it?

Hugs to all that need it - Daniel slept through again last night since Sunday night he was waking every 2 hours but I think his teeth were sore.

Advocado is fine at this age, full of good fats! If your pureeing, just add a little cooled boiled water to it so it blends really well. It's a great finger food for around 6 months, too.
I formula fed Jake, and kept him on sma gold for the first year, then changed to cows whole milk at 12 months.

Rosie loves avocado.
Its national coffee day. This could be dangerous lol. I love coffee

Rex has had pureed avocado the past 2 days. He loves it!

Got a right shock at lunchtime. Was trying to get him to nap in his cot so put him down awake. He started crying so left him a few mins to see if he'd stop but he didn't so I went up to him. He was only laying on his belly! He's never rolled back to front before! Wish I'd seen it!

Which carseats do you ladies have?
Buying a convertible one today, thinking Graco My Ride 65

oh no poo on my sofa now too! :dohh:

emmy's glad you're mums doing better! hope they got it all!

cheese, hope the surgeon can help mil xx

sazzle, yay for rex rolling! he'll be away now lol.

naima, we have a britaix baby safe but tbh i don't like it! lol. had a look today at stage 1 car seats but didnt see much there i liked either,:dohh:

took alex to dr this morning, she took a poo sample and wants me to get him weighed again next wk and see her again on thurs, glad shes at least looking into all his pooing! done 7 pooey nappy changes in last 14hours :(

I hope he's not away, Caro! We're not childproofed at all! Don't even own stair gates yet. Best get looking for some good offers on them. We have 2 flights of stairs so need 4 gates.

Glad the docs are taking his poorly tummy seriously. Bless him pooing everywhere! Hope they find out what's wrong quickly & get him better.

haha sazzle, you'll prob be safe from needing gates for a while yet! alex is rolling everywhere now but he's still pretty slow really, i can easily put him on the floor and just push the door shut so he's safe from the stairs, and he's not made it out the lounge yet and don't think he's capable of attempting climbing stairs at all yet.

i have had to remove things from the lower shelf on the coffee table though and just not leave stuff on the floor anymore thats not suitable to be chewed! :)
