April Mummies 2011

did whomever needed the butt paste for their lo's diaper rash that wouldn't go away, did you use it and did it work? i'm trying to scan back in our posts to find out who it was and can't seem to find you...

Gertrude I feed LO every 3-4 hours.

Yay the little man now weighs 8ib 13oz.

oooh we got smiles from Alex today! def weren't gassy ones either :cloud9:

Aww yay!
I'm loving the smiles. Isnt it the best feeling, knowing youre making your LO happy and its not just a fart? :haha:

How long do these crazy hormones stick around for?
I've become more and more paranoid about DF and one of the secretaries at his work. And I want to blame it on hormones because I hate that these thoughts might cross my mind otherwise. Can I blame sleep deprivation? I dunno. But this sucks.

yay another 2oz gained in 3 days AND thats with us giving half the top ups we were giving yesterday!

Gerturde...fab news! before long you'll be able to knock out the formula altogther (if you want to of course! :)) xx

I went looking for it, but couldn't find it here. So I looked up the ingredients in Butt Paste and found a Penaten cream that had almost the same ingredients. It has worked great. His bum is still a bit pink, but so much better than it was.

Aaron feeds every 2-3hrs during the day and every 4-6 at night. He only feeds 5-7mins per feed, but he is a big pig:haha: I know he is getting enough though. He weighed in at 10lbs at todays doctors appt. Thats 1lb gained in just a week :)

i'm glad you found something that worked. love the butt paste!

Oh my god ladies, Toby just slept through til 4am after his 10:30pm bottle... God I love that little guy :happydance:

I just got I think over 4 hours sleep!!! :D

So glad to hear of all the sleep and weight gain!!!
I've heard great things about butt paste. I've got some hippie shit my mom got us that is welleda (sp?) Brand and has callendula. Its really great.
Dana- I can't wait to read your birth story.
So we went to our WIC appt today and Rosie is 22inches long and 9lb5.5oz now. Can't believe how big they get so fast!
And the smiles!!! LOVE them!

Wish my boy would sleep longer. He only wakes up twice in the night but it can take up to 2 hours to get him back to sleep. He is in pain with colic. Don't know what to do. The health visitor thinls he is allergic to my milk and also the sma we give him at night. Does anyone elses LO have such bad pain from Colic or is it just me?

Toby did have... Still has some days where he'll cry loads due to a gassy belly/bum but hes settling more at night now *touches wood*
As soon as he got to 4 weeks we started using gripe water after daytime feeds and It seems to be working quite well. I dont use it after night feeds because it disturbs him too much and I prefer to keep him sleepy, so instead I just don't lie him down straight away to give the milk time to settle a bit. Comfort milk at night seems to help too.

Got a feeling last night was a flukey one-off but we'll see!

Good to hear about all the sleeping babies and weight gain! :) x

Ollie is full of the sniffles :( Took him the walk in centre and theyve prescribed him some nose drops to try and unblock it but they dont seem to be working so well as of yet. Its keeping him awake and the poor little mite is all grumpy and squirmy!

The lady at the walk in centre was such a BITCH. She was really condescending all because Im young :/ She asked how old I was and when I said 19 she said she thought I was much younger than that and thinks I need educating in the nicest way possible. She also said Im an over protective mother and that the baby's stuffy nose is bothering me more than him.
So what if Im protective... at least I care about him :/

Hi girls, wow I have just managed to catch up.

Well today is my first day on my own and I have managed to have a shower and some lunch.

Settling into motherhood quite well except for the fact that Daniel does not like being put down and cluster feeds at night and won't sleep anywhere but in our bed. I really need to get him to change this any ideas

Toby sleeps better in bed with me in the mornings... what I have to do at night is make sure not to give in. I won't let him sleep in the bed. After a bottle, I burp him and rub his back until he's asleep and then put him in his moses basket. That way, I dont have to try to settle him in the crib/basket, but he'll get used to waking up in it and eventually (hopefully) won't mind being put to bed in it either.
Might be worth a try? Seems to be getting better here.

Gem, sorry you had a bad time at the doctors.I hope Ollie gets better soon x

Doctors, midwives and HVs get my goat... they seem to think that only they know how you should lead your life and look after your baby. Wtf has age got to do with anything? My sister had my nephew when she was 19 (or was it 20?) and she's pretty much the best mum ever. And if anyone accuses you of being overprotective again, just say that you'd rather that than not care enough and let something bad happen.
You just can't win sometimes... damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Dont let it get to you hun. We're new mums... its out job to be protective of our littl'uns! xx

Oh... quick question... has anyone else had their monthlies yet?

I'll confess, I had to take the morning after pill last week and I've been (TMI?)... not bleeding properly but spotting and getting red and brown discharge for the past few days. I'm not sure if this is a light period.... or if its some sort of withdrawal bleed from the pill.

Either way its the worst timing ever because its mine and Keiths anniversary today and I was hoping for an early night iykwim... :dohh:

I'm with you on the cluster feeding babybefore. Exhausting isn't it!

Rex isn't too keen on his basket either. I nurse him to sleep then wait 5 mins til he's sound asleep then pop him in his basket & get him all tucked up tight in his blanket. If he looks like he's stirring I hold his arms over his chest for a bit just to make sure he doesn't startle himself awake again. We also got a white noise app on my phone & play rain & wave sounds all night to soothe him a bit. I put that on during the last feed before bed & leave it on all night. It's quite soothing! This all works for us most of the time. He wouldn't even go in his basket for the first few nights & now he'll do 4 hour stretches.

Prob making a rod for my own back with nursing him to sleep but at least he's not in our bed. He does occasionally stir & settle himself so hopefully he's learning. x

Oh thanks for that advice, I am going to try that tonight, am also going to try and put him down at 9 as he is going to bed with me and I am exhausted so jut give in, he absolutely wails when I put him in his basket and it breaks my heart.

Silly question but do you girls play with your newborns, I tried to put him on his mat today and let him have a kick about and talk to him alot and I am also going to try reaing to him, I don't want him to get bored but also don't want to overstimulate.
