Drats, had a nice long post and bnb had a glitch when I tried to post it.
Sorry if this is choppy, my other post made a lot more sense
Thanks for all the tips on how to keep her awake for longer feedings. I've been trying the cheek stroke, touching her shoulder and also stroking her ear, they definitely seem to work. She still falls asleep but I can get her to feed a bit longer. Usually 10 minutes to sometimes close to 20 minutes. I have no idea what normal is for a breastfed baby but figure she's programmed to get enough food so I'm just going to let her lead the way and not stress too much. We have our 2 week check up on Tuesday so we'll find out then how she's doing on weight gain. She's such a tiny thing I can't imagine she's put on much weight.
Also been having a tough time getting her to sleep at night, she feeds and drifts off to sleep but as soon as she's in her bassinet she grunts and fusses and eventually cries within 10 minutes. She's only happy when being fed or sleeping on Daddy's chest. I'm trying something different today and have put her down to nap in her glider on her side. She's slept for 2+ hours at both of her naps so I hope it works tonight. Could really use a bit of sleep!
Gem, how is Ollie doing with his feeds? Any increase in amount today?
DH got Lizzie to take a bottle this morning while I was at the dr. He said it was a major struggle but she finally drank nearly 2 oz of my milk out of it! I'm encouraged now to at least know that she can take a bottle. Will still be work and gets her quite upset, but hopefully with a bit of practice we can get her used to it for Grandma's house and when Mommy needs a break.
Sleeping beauty appears to be waking up from all the grunts I hear coming from the glider. Time to nurse!
Hope everyone is doing well!!
