April Mummies 2011

Mrs-C, early teething is a bit of a bum but yay for 2 at once! We had a type of teether for Eliza which really helped. It was like a dummy but instead of a teat there was a flat bobbled teether there. I think we got it from a supermarket, I'll just try and find a picture of one...

Hmm, wasn't exactly like this one, but you get the gist.

Dana, she is absolutely gorgeous and very cute. Your heart must swell with love everytime you play with her :hugs:

ladies how do you know if your LO is teething? what do you mean by you can see the teeth in the gum?

WHAT THE HELL AM I LOOKING FOR :D

Teething starts with lots of drooling, fussiness, swollen gums etc. then eventually when the teeth are getting ready to break through you'll see white on their gums and possibly feel the little teeth when you feel their gums. Then you'll see the little teeth coming up out of the gums. From beginning to end for a single tooth your LO could be "teething" for months before a tooth erupts. Isis has been showing signs of teething off and on for 2 months and I can't feel or see anything on her gums.

Boy do growth spurts really put things into perspective. Now that I'm on the back side of the 3 month one I'm so grateful for all the sleep I'm getting. She not sleeping through like she was but she's sleeping 2-4 hour stretches instead of a 6-7 hour stretch and then up every 2 hours after that.
We're also facing a clothing emergency, at least that's what I told DH :haha: Anyway, she squirms so much at night now with rolling that she's wrapping her sleep sacks around her legs which causes her to get frustrated so we're going to be putting her into sleepers but her 3-6 month sleepers are almost too short for her and the only 6 month sleeper hand-me-downs we got are fleece. So off to town I go today (40 minute drive one way!) for a mother daughter bonding shopping trip. Might have to stop by the Carter's outlet for a few of the bodysuits I saw in the ad they sent me. I love shopping for Isis!

Oh also with teething you may see a small pinprick of a hole on the gum where it breaks through. Jake had NO signs apart from dribbling which was pretty normal so guess you will notice way before teeth arrive or may not realuse until a tooth appears!!! I found putting a cold wet flannel in the freezer, a god send! He would chew then chew some more on it. Also we gas a munchkin net which you could put whole pieces if food in for baby, without worry of choking. In that we would put a frozen lolly made from liquid and juice of fruit we pureed. That helped a bit too.

Had alovely day today shopping without kids! After 2.5 years of pushing a pram everywhere, or chasing a child in the shop whilst the other bawls, felt like I was missing something! At one point I missed them.....until I heard a kidSCREAMING at his mum. Soon didn't!!!!! Lol!!

well pickle has been dribbling since 10weeks and is constantly chewing on her fingers now - she holds things and takes them to her mouth but ends up chewing her fingers again :D

ah well, we'll see :) can't see anything in her gums

I have had a lovely day today went for a long walk in the New Forest and a pub lunch then had a friend over this evening. Now George is tucked up in bed and I am enjoying a glass of wine......only thing is I was so paranoid about George burning I forgot to put any cream on me and I am now burnt!!!

Gertrude, Isis is the same way, drooling putting things/fingers in her mouth constantly but no hint of teeth coming through. They could show up overnight and have no indication beforehand.

Choco, several times I've put lotion in Isis and forgot myself and ended up totally burned. I need to go see a dermatologist but I'm going to wait until fall so hopefully my tan will fade a little and I won't get as much of a lecture about protecting my skin.

Got some really cute clothes for Isis at TJ Max. I'm going to the Carter outlet on Tuesday to pick up some cute stuff for our trip next month.

well I went to a car boot again today and got some lovely books! and also a massive pile of megabloks (for £2!)

WOOHOO!

I also got very burnt too :(

Hope Harley is feeling better today.

I've begun the process of returning to work. Just applied for my old job durning uni. It's a TL role, so a step up but still a step backwards really. I have no choice but to go back to work asap (have to give 4 weeks notice).

I'm hoping I get to see DH as much as possible and spend quality time together as a family. We at least will both get quality time with DD this way. She will have maybe 2 days a week at nursery. I think it will do her good to be around other kids. She is an only child and will be staying that way for at least 3 years!

The idea of leaving her to go to work for 12 hours makes me feel sick

uh oh!!
I wish our condom broke.. I want another but hubby doesn't!

I finally called to become certified to donate milk. I decided it was time since I froze 17 oz of extra milk on Sunday from last week's pumping. So starting today I'm going to track when I take ibuprofen or when I have a drink so I know what milk to donate. They even give me the containers to put the milk in. Makes me happy to know that my milk will go to help premies and other babies whose moms can't make enough milk.
Today's kinda sad at work. One of our coworkers lost control of his motorcycle last night and rolled into a ditch. He's at the hospital in an induced coma. Where I work is a pretty tight group. Even though I work for a big company, we're located in a small town and everyone knows everyone here. I just hope he makes it.

Cute little guy Megi!

Mrs-C, I'm sure it'll work out. When I was facing going back to work I was petrified. Now part of me is pretty happy to go to work. I enjoy the interaction and I appreciate my time with LO more when I have it.
