are you having the flu jab??

Just got mine. There use to be concern about stage of pregnancy, but flu shot is now considered safe and effective for all stages of pregnancy.

I got mine 2 weeks ago. No symptoms after like I normally have. I would never want to have the flu while pregnant.

No it isn't, please refer to the package insert on the section titled "use in specific populations" you will immediately find "pregnant women" in which it will follow "Safety and effectiveness of AFLURIA have not been established in
pregnant women or nursing mothers." We are simply guinea pigs which will show others in 10 years the effects it can have on the fetus/baby as well as the mother.

Yes it is. I refer to the nurse that I talked to and other sources such as:

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/protect/vaccine/qa_vacpregnant.htm
https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-...by-week/expert-answers/influenza/faq-20058522
https://www.medicinenet.com/pregnancy_flu_shot_side_effects_and_safety/article.htm

Also the information package I got along with my shot today also states it's safe for pregnant women. I had the flu shot with my older children as well.

Which version (name) did you receive?
I am not aware of ANY version of the flu shot that is tested on pregnant women meaning the risks are unknown..

Nothing is "tested" on pregnant women. That is illegal. Not to mention even if it wasn't I don't think you'd find a pregnant woman willing to volunteer. The testing is done on animals, and then safety is viewed through statistics. This is not a new shot. In fact if you do some research you'll see the shot is deemed safe, but right now the nasal spray is not recommended.

Also the links you posted state that it's been tested in some cases in quantities like 265x the amount given to humans in animals with 0 negative effects on pregnancy, newborns, etc.

I have done plenty of research, and thankfully live in an area where most doctors tell their patients the truth. Will you please tell me the name of the flu shot you were given?

They won't give women in their first trimester the flu shot at all around here because of the heightened risk of miscarriage. I know several women who have lost their baby soon after receiving the flu shot. One in her 3rd trimester whose fetus passed within 24 hours of receiving the vaccine. No one lied to her about it, or denied what had happened either. Though they couldn't prove that the death was related to the shot she was told straight up that it isn't unheard of for a baby to be stillborn after receiving the flu shot.

Well you do what you feel is best for you and I'll do what I feel is best for me. There is no proof of the flu shot being dangerous for pregnant women or baby. It's been tested on plenty of animals as is standard. With no negative side effects. I'm not here to have a debate. Anti vaccine pro vaccine whatever. Everyone chooses to do what they feel is right.

Why can't you tell me which version of the vaccine you received? I don't care what others decide for themselves but I don't like the misinformation.

It's unfortunate that the CDC choose to leave some studies out while concluding that the flu shot should be recommended to pregnant/nursing mothers .

If they can't prove it can you please not post these things on here. Makes people like me worry ESP after fertility issues and a loss already....

This thread was a question or flu shot or not. Not why not to have it and to scare the pants off of anyone who did
So thanks for that

Just to ease your mind, if you google the database from which the scary article came (VAERS) you will find that it is not considered accurate scientific information. For example, "A major limitation of VAERS data is that VAERS cannot determine if the adverse health event reported was caused by the vaccination" (https://wonder.cdc.gov/vaers.html). Essentially it is a database of unverified reports of adverse reactions to vaccines (much like unverified anecdotal evidence). So try not to let it worry you!!

Nope, I never have any vaccinations in pregnancy. Not worth the risk, ive never had the flu and feel its unnecessary. Its not suitable for young children and atm, my baby is definitely to young to have it!!

Don't worry about what other people are saying about everything. People have their own opinions. Do what you think is best for you......you will always have people giving there two sense whether you ask for it or not.

God Bless!!

I had it during my last pregnancy and I had it this time around 4 weeks.

I spoke with my RE at length and he is at a very highly regarded hospital, not to mention has been listed as a top 100 doctor in the St. Louis area for the past ten years. He said the hospital he works at does research every single year and he highly recommends getting a flu shot.

I got the preservative free version both times, but they said even if preservative free were not available they would recommend still getting it.

Misinformation? You're posting a so called personal experience as fact. Fact is all reputable health centers such as the cdc etc. say it's not dangerous for pregnant women. Just because you think differently doesn't make you right. You are trying to scare people and that is wrong. In your version of facts I could say I've had 3 vaccinations and no problems so there's your conclusive proof that it's ok. Obviously that doesn't fly. Nothing in those inserts says it's dangerous for pregnant women. It says it's been tested on animals in various states of gestation at way higher doses than humans get with no side effects. Obviously rats, and bunnies are not humans, but its the best they have to go on.

So you make your decision and keep your fear mongering to yourself. State that you don't feel that it's something you would choose. However health care workers, doctors, nurses, cdc, alberta health services, Canadian government all say the opposite of your opinion.

My doctor gives it to all of her patients, the preservative free version only though.
