Attachment Parenting Group

I know we have our own forum..but I just thought it would be neat to have our own group thread too!

I'm Nic and my son's name is Lakai, he almost 1 (actual and corrected (going by due date) he is just over 8 months) he was born 16 weeks earlier at 24+4 weeks. Anyways, we fell into attachment parenting by accident really. It wasn't planned but it works for us. We co-sleep, breastfeed (well Ive been pumping exclusively for almost 12 months), we don't CIO, we baby wear! and so much more.

I hope this place can be a support system for other attachment parents!

I'm Terri with baby Edward who is almost 9 months old. We bf, baby wear and use to co-sleep. Edward decided at 5 months that he preferred his big boy crib but I still sneak him into bed when he has a rough night.

Hey! I'm Kirsten, with Freya we babywear, don't CIO, are trying to BF through pumping we co-sleep occasionally, but not that often and loads more that I can't think of right now! I like to have her with me all the time, I enjoy being close to her .

AP aspects with both kiddies

Ffion - was BF (shes 16mo now though!) and we wear her plus we use baby sign which i feel is an extention of AP. we also did BLW which i know is 'natural parenting' but thought id mention it here anyway!

Rhys - was BF (stopped quite soon though ) my hubby still wears him and we still co-sleep with him. we also use sign with rhys

I have 3 carriers (a ring sling, a mai tai and a woven wrap) so I just can't justify buying anymore.

Hi ladies!! I'm Beth I have 3 little boys, Landon is 6, Casen is 4 and Hayden is 2. We really started AP with Casen just out of necessity, the cosleeping and such, after my csection. We have now looked into it more and I agree fully with AP we do it more and more now. We cosleep, breastfeed until they self wean, gentle discipline, no vaccines, babywearing...umm I know there is more lol

Howdy

I'm a co-sleeping, breastfeeding (6 months exclusively!), babyled weaning Mummy.

I really feel uncomfortable with CC, CIO and sleep training.

I don't babywear as LO will not tolerate a sling/wrap (I've tried 6 types since birth) so I'm a baby carrier with very sore arms.

Toby is a 21lb 9oz, 6 month old baby, who has changed my life. I hope to continue co-sleeping and breastfeeding till 2+.

I'm also a Mummy who 'makes a rod for her own back' because I hold, comfort and feed LO on demand even if he wants 24 hour a day contact with me.

I don't know if its just me, but it seems like all of you fellow AP'ers have really cool and sometimes unique baby names, I love it!

For those of you who co-sleep how long do you plan to continue?

Ive been co sleeping with Lakai since he came home from the hospital, which many might say is nuts! Since he was already totally use to being in a crib from being in one for so long. But I just couldn't let him go. I don't know when I should make the move into the crib though...

Is there any set time or just when you feel like it?

Im Nicki and mum to Ernie who is 5months. We AP by accident-we didnt plan on it-but someone must have sneaked an AP book into Ernie in the womb as he has wanted to be held all the time since he was born!! We co sleep- it started off he had to be held,then he was just happy so lie next to me, now he will go off to sleep in his cot (bedside one with the dropside under the cot) and usually comes in our bed during the night. I baby wear, he is a cloth bum and i will start blw in a couple of weeks. Dont know what cio is tho?

I never did any of this with any of my other 5 so i hadnt planned to with ern, but he seems to need and like the comfort of being so close to me or dh-and as he is the last one i really dont mind it-after all they grow up so fast he wont want it for long so i enjoy it while it lasts

I have no choice but to "wear" Edward, he was too heavy for me right from day one. That means he's pretty use to it though. He likes it when DH wears him the most I think, cause then he's nice and high!

I only co-slept until E was 5 months old. I had him in a side bed but he stopped sleeping at all and in desperation my DH and I decided to try him in his "big boy" crib and voila, he slept. Not that he sleeps really great, even with the change, but it's better. I think he likes having more room and DH and I don't disturb him as much.

I figure whenever your LO is ready to move to their own bed is soon enough to stop co-sleeping. If it's working for everyone then why change??

I love how many of us fell into AP by accident.

Did anyone research it and make an informed choice to be an AP parent before your LO was born?

Terri - That's true...thankfully my husband is not trying to make me kick Lakai out of bed and says "when you are ready". Its pretty near impossible to be ready when he keeps crawling over to cuddle with me every morning now
