I was going to use Avent again as I did last time, but was going to buy new ones anyway as the ones i had before aren't BPA free.

I've got a free sample of the Mam ones and I really like the look of them.

Which would you get?

The bonus of the Mam ones is the self sterilising thing, and they look nicer lol!

Also does anyone know, what's the difference between Avent's durable and highly durable bottles? Which are better?

Thanks.

I started off with the MAM ones and i actually only got them because they look so nice lol. They are really stylish and theres so many different designs. After a while though they were a pain to wash and sterilise because of all the parts. I am lazy though lol. The self-sterilising feature is good too but i found myself just putting them all in the steriliser anyway as it was easier.

Ive changed to Avent ones now though but still kept my favourite MAM ones for water as i really didn't want to get rid of them. I do use the MAM teats with the Avent bottles as LO won't take any different ones.

The highly durable Avent bottles are a different colour than the durable ones. They have like a brown tint (sounds ugly but actually looks nice) They feel more glassy than plastic. They also don't have the little anti-colic piece that you have to put in the top of the durable ones. Its already built in.

If you really want the MAM ones then i'd buy them as you can always buy the Avent ones aswell and use MAM teats. I love the MAM teats and dummys. LO loves them and the have a sort of silky feel to them.

Oh and ASDA and Mothercare currently have a sale on the Avent highly durable bottles. They are about £8 for 3 :flower:

Thanks hun. Avent sound totally different to when I bought them three years ago, there was no extra anti colic bit to put in, u just had the bottle, teat, screw on white bit and the lid. Do the extra bits of the mam ones really cause that much extra work washing etc? I was thinking self sterilising would be easier but is it easier in a steriliser then? X

I don't find the Mam ones hard work to clean. I use Avent ones and Mam ones and LO and me both prefer Mam.

I did find them extra work compared to the Avent ones. They are so much easier to clean. I can't see the difference in the two bottles to tell you the truth except the teats but i use the MAM ones with the Avent bottles.

Get the MAM ones if you really want to hun. They are really nice and do as good of a job as the Avent ones. They are really cute. I collected more each time a new design came out lol. The dummies are cute aswell. I used only the MAM ones for the 1st 3 months and now i use a mixture of both. The MAM ones are more for when i go out though

I haven't used the Avent ones before but since LO stopped breastfeeding at 2 and a half months I tired TT and he didn't like them then tried MAM and he loved them, haven't looked back. I find them rather easy to clean :). With the MAM bottles you can get all the accessories for, like the Hold Me Handle etc. for when the baby is little older.

Thanks everyone. Am thinking it will be mam for me, but still have 3 months to decide! Do the mam dummies come in a plastic box thing u can sterilise them in? Just trying to c if I need a steriliser at all if I go for mam. X

I think the MAM ones ARE harder work to clean than some of the other bottles. However I do find it worth it as Evie hardly has any wind now she has the MAM bottles.
And its not much more effort.

I stick them all in a steriliser to sterilise them but have used the self sterilising function. Either is just as good tbh.

And they look fab :D

i started on avent but have moved to mam as he's very windy - they're not that much of a hassle to wash but they dont fit well in an avent sterilizer so i do the self sterilizing thing.

also, i got the mam starter set which has 2 130 ml bottles, 2 160 ml bottles and 4 260 ml bottles, as well as 4 teats, handles and a sippy cup teat for when they get bigger and a dummy :D it's £18.29 on amazon but nearly 30 quid everywhere else
x

I use MAM but that's mainly because Holly prefers them - when she had avent bottles most of the milk poured out the side of her mouth :dohh:
The MAM ones look fab, and I always self sterilise as I find it easier. But washing them is a total pain (I am lazy though). You can buy replacement parts for MAM bottles too, I just ordered new rubber seals for all my bottles because they get a bit looser after a while. 75p for a new rubber valve is a lot better than having to fork out for a new bottle!
