we got some Avent bottles yesterday and they had the anti colic rim in with them. today we bought some more but it a gold box rather than a blue box and they dont have the rim. The mothercare website labels the blue as durable and the gold as extra durable and the gold box says advanced on it.

i looked at them both next to each other and went over the teats etc and the only difference appears to be the rim. so now im confused! is one better than the other??

They are just made of a slightly different type of plastic; some of the newer BPA free bottles made of certain types of plastic are not very durable especially when frozen etc, perhaps the extra durable are still BPA free but made of a stronger material?

I use both the browny looking ones are more harder than the others I've never had a problem with either of them :)

i phoned avent earlier and they said that they both have the anti colic teats but the rim is an extra anti colic "device" so if i was using them with a windy baby i need the blue ones

I use them both and never had colic with my lo he's seems to really like these bottles :)
