Baby Bugs Due February 2013

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?

How can you even prop up a 6 week old to give them baby rice???

She said she just wants feeding all the time and so she was recommended by her brothers girlfriend to start baby rice (the brothers gf started their little boy on it at 5 weeks ) so my friend took their advice. I said ohhh right okay so do you give it in her bottle then (thinking thats the only way she could possibly be doing it) and she said no I give it to her on a spoon

Each to their own. I said 'jack went through a phase of constantly wanting feeding, its just a growth spurt, if she wants feeding then just give her milk...if shes hungry feed her' but I dont think she agreed with me lol. I said jack went through a phase of having milk every hour and a half but oh well, leave her to it.

Qhat does she class as constant feeding? Jades only just started actually taking of spoon and swallowing!

That has just reminded me that this time in 2 months Sophie will be on solids. Dreading it :nope:

It was because he wanted a toy and refused to walk the 2 steps to the toybox :dohh:

Well she actually said sheisnt going long enough between feeds and always wants more...surely the logical thing would be to feed more milk more often? Lol. I said how does she eat off the spoon and she said she licks it. Honestly cant fathom how a spoon of baby rice is supposed to be the solution. Feel bad slagging her off eeek.

There isn't much you can do except offer advice, it is her choice. I hope the baby is ok though.

My friend with her third child started weaning at 8 weeks with just family meals - like spag bog - pureed. He was off all bottles at 7 months. I said at the time he should really be having some milk until he was 1 but she was adament it was great he was off a bottle.

The little boy is 18 months now and a few months ago fell off a trampoline and badly broke his leg. Turns out he has low bone density and is on calcium supplements and has to eat loads of dairy...

She is my friend and I try not to judge but she is obsessed with really early weaning and all of her kids have skin issues and allergies :nope: could be a coincidence of course but I wouldn't risk it - especially because I know she uses the internet and baby websites. She must know pasta and meat at 8 weeks isn't advisable?

:(

I have tummy issues so wait until they are showing the proper signs to wean as I don't want to risk the kids being the same if early weaning can cause it. The older 2 were at 5.5 months.

Plus weaning is a pain in the arse. I already have a 2 year old who smears food everywhere, I don't want another one making that sort of mess just yet

i think some people just think its easyer to spoon feed then bottle feed not in this house lol messy girl

Ah, I'm excited about starting solids. I was having a look at the Boots organics range (purées, creamy porridge, baby rice etc), and am looking forward to seeing what Harry thinks of it all! :D
