My Sam has gotten through the selection process for a baby modelling agency - I hoped if he got any photo shoots the money would be put in his savings account - the agency wants me to take some pictures and put them on their website as a portfolio - the fee for photos on the website is £99 which I'm not sure about.
My OH isn't keen on the idea of his son being a model - and I won't do it unless both of us are on board.
Just wondered what you girls think to baby modelling? Am I in the wrong - I did just want a strong start to the money going in the savings account I've done him :)

I heard somewhere that you shouldnt have to pay anything at all... Im not sure how true that is, but I have definitely seen it a few times.

I have nothing against it, as long as it is for fun etc but I guess its totally up to you.

Good luck to you if you decide to go for it :)

I didnt have to pay nething hun, toby got through the selection process then straighr into tge modelling

I too have heard you shouldn't have to pay anything, but again not sure if its true.
Maybe do some research on Google about the company your going with and see what comes up? I always do this if I am unsure:thumbup:

I'm all for it. I would be really proud of seeing my lo on a magazine/advert :)
but I would never go with an agency that charges you! All the decent ones don't charge. Afterall they are making money out of our gorgeous babbas! X

I've just googled it any many women have had problems - they paid the joining fee then heard nothing - so I think it's a scam.

Deffo shouldnt have to pay anything. My auntie who used to be a model also told me that any of the legit decent agencies shouldnt charge as you will be earning them money!

xx

Woaaah hold on ladies my little man is in baby modelling and is with Bonnie and Betty. You do have to pay costs untill a child is 18 and it it 100% legal. We've been with Bonnie and Betty 3 months and already had three castings - Huggies, Calpol and SMA

What agency is it hun? Models Direct is a scam. Id reccomened Bonnie and Betty, Grace and Galor and Bruce and Brown they are the best in the business. Grace and Galor is mostly photographic work whereas Bonnie and Betty is more adverts

Hope i helped :)

Most reputable Child Model Agencies DO charge a fee - the fee is for the cost of publishing your child's details on the agencies portfolio.

This subject has been widely misquoted in Internet chat rooms and other so called sources of information for many years. Adult agencies do not charge an up front fee, as an adult model you are able to put in a lot of ground work constantly going to see clients actually booking yourself appointments and calling in to see them with your book (portfolio). A child agency needs to promote the children to their clients. Most Child agencies have an on-line portfolio.

I have spoken to quite a few who have said they never had to pay so that is where I heard and also from my aunt.

I would love to put my lo in for something like that!

xx

Found this on Bonnie & Betty site.

I have heard agencies should not charges upfront fees, is this right?

You will find that nearly all child agencies will charge some sort of fee, whether this is a joining fee, a fee to appear on their website and/or in their book, fees for professional photography etc etc. Fees can vary hugely from agency to agency. Agencies are not allowed to charge upfront fees if they are a model agency only, just supplying models. We are a model and casting agency providing models and artistes for all areas of the industry.

Sounds fishy to me, but maybe some agencies need money up front for different costs? This is a touchy topic for me, sorry don't want to offend, but I'm kinda against child modeling...seems more for the Mother's benefit even if the child's money would be put in a fund or whatever. Puts a lot of emphasis on looks and don't think they should be put into modeling if they don't have a say in the matter. It should be the child's choice if they want to model or not, not up to the Mother. Sorry, just my 2 cents, but you gotta do what you think is right! xx

Child modelling is a very touchy subject and is purely down to personal opinion and preference. However, Kai is very happy infront of the camera, loves it infact! Loves meeting new people and its perfect for him.

Gets us both out the house and yes of course its lovely seeing your child in a catalogue and modelling a big brand. So it works both ways, it totally depends if the child is happy doing it or not

not offended at all hon - I do agree - I'm just kinda vain (not a good thing I know) - well I was before I got fat and well I wanted be a model but I failed - got caught up in a few modelling agency scams, and I do wonder if I applied to good places I may have got through - so part of me thinks I'm doing it for me not him and my OH isn't on board so we won't be doing it.
we had a long chat about it and said if I'd tried modelling it maybe different now - as he says he wants me to be judged on my mind and personality and he wants the same for Sam - which I totally get.

I don't pay fees for my daughters modeling and wouldn't pay either!

p.s its not about looks its about modeling whatever they want to sell. Its not like adult modeling and they get to play with other babies, you meet other mums and have professional pics of your baby to cherish forever you get those for free as well as savings for your child. It gets you out and about and sometimes you might feel limited with what you can do with a baby so that is a big bonus. My daughter is up in Tesco's at the moment and I can't tell you how proud I am!!!!

What agency do you use? I am interested but all the legit ones seem to be in london lol.

xx

I'm with Bruce & Brown so they have all their jobs in London. But I think scallywags and Elizabeth Smith might have jobs out of London too. Not too sure if they charge any fees though. x

ahhh yes Bruce and Brown is amazing :D
Scallywags charge £200 a year which is ridiculous if you ask me thats why we turned them down. Elizabeth Smith is something like £160?x
