baby models being airbrushed

I just thought when i watched it that babys are all naturally beautiful and don't need changing or edited. If i was buying a parenting or pregnancy magazine I would want to see a natural baby with folds of fat, dribbles and everything. Thats what makes a baby cute.[/QUOTE]

It is what id expect to see in a baby magazine but not realy in a catalouge, dribble scratches and sadly even the fat rolls do not sell branded label baby tops

Why not though? Wouldnt put me off in the slightest  x

I think that is really sad and just sums up what a vain world we live in.
Dribble, scratches.. yeah ok maybe I can understand that... a little.
But the little fat rolls? Eye colour? Rediculous!

makes sense to me ... airbrushing just makes things look nicer ... x

I airbrush portraits and we always even out skin tone and make eyes brighter regardless of age as professional cameras are so sharp. Would never dream of editing out wee podge rolls though that's part of what makes babies cute!

It's a sad thing, but that's life! Whatever they are selling they want the 'perfect' looking baby or child or adult to model it, it's proven that if good looking people model something it is more likely to sell. So i don't really see much wrong with it, as at the end of the day they are just trying to sell!

Personally if i saw a baby with fat rolls and dribble down his face i'd think he was adorable! But unfortunatly not everyone has that view :-(

I suppose it just shows you that no one is perfect even those picked to model because even their features are changed.

P.S. Bloodbinds your LO is your double!

Hehe, thanks! :-D I get told that a lot, i'm just sooooo pleased she doesn't look like FOB!! Lol x

My baby doesn't have any fat rolls, maybe he should be a model

I saw something like that before for mother and baby magazine. I was annoyed at the airbrushing..Even more wound up that the "mothers" in the magazines are actually models aswell!!!

Im a bit suprised that people think its ok to airbrush a baby.

Airbrushing implies imperfection and surely every baby is perfect and beautiful just how they are

Yeah they showed this in the programme aswell, the 'mothers' were models that didn't have children. They were just matched with babies that looked similar to them.

I thought a good thing for these 'parenting' magazines would be real mothers and their babies.

I did aswell. I was pregnant at the time I saw it and it upset me so much that I emailed the company informing them of how upset I was that the title of their "Mother & Baby" magazine was completely staged. I never got a reply though
