A few days ago I put my son to sleep. I rocked him into a deep sleep. I did the limp arm test and all. I placed him in his crib with the fan in the background for white noise, lullabies softly playing on the CD player and the temperature of the room being just right. I thought he would nap his 1.5-3 hours for sure. I set up the monitor and quickly ran out to take a long needed hot shower. In the shower I placed the receiver on one of the racks and proceeded to shower. I am a bit of a paranoid mommy so as you can imagine I was constantly staring at the screen to see that baby was sleeping soundly.

Then all of a sudden the receiver shuts off. I tap it and shake it for a few seconds. It comes back on but says, "No signal." I begin tapping it harder and then the picture reappears. I saw my baby now wide awake on his tummy babbling. From sheer shock of his awakening and creepy coincidence of the monitor not working I jumped out of the shower and grabbed my son. He did not seem scared or startled just babbling as I approached. I felt a coldness to the room and that feeling that someone is watching. I said out loud, "Who is visiting you today LO? " I quickly left the room.

This all happened in a matter of less then 10 seconds. One second he was asleep (when I was able to see him on camera) and the next he was awake! I just found it to be really weird.
--What are the chances that baby wakes up in the few seconds that the monitor somehow stopped functioning?
---Could this be paranormal or just a weird coincidence?

My theory was that maybe someone ( a deceased family member) wanted to visit with LO but since I was so intensely watching the screen they had to make the monitor screen turn off so I wouldn't see them.
This wasn't the first time something strange happened with the monitor. When LO was a newborn, I left him sleeping in his pack n play for a moment as I used the bathroom. I again, watched so intensely on the monitor. All of a sudden there was a shrieking noise (like static) . I looked at the screen and saw an orb floating above LO. Not only that but LO woke up as the "orb" floated over him.

Believe me I am aware that these all can be coincidences. I understand that the "orb" could have been some dust floating BUT it is possible that they are not just that.

Do you believe someone deceased has visited your LO?
Have you have any weird monitor anomalies happen?

OUr monitor goes out on occasion due to the wi-fi in the house, and when the microwave is on. It affects wireless transmissions.

I've not had monitor anomolies like this, but DS looks PAST me on occasion & babbles. I like to think that its my dad or my grandmother paying a visit as they would have both been so happy to know him!

My LO has done this while my mother was holding him. She freaked out to say the least and ran out of his bedroom! :haha:

Like you I also like to think that it is a loved one taking a peek at LO.

Oh god! I'm on my own tonight for next couple of hours and about to put LO up to bed and put monitor on. And I see this thread!! X

So sorry hun! Didn't mean to scare anyone. I am home alone a lot as well and worst of all overnight since hubby sometimes has the night shift.
I like to believe that the "visitors" are my loved ones. I am hoping my brother who passed has come to see my son. I was not afraid of my brother when he was alive so why should I fear him now.

Never had it with monitors, but,
My geandad (dads dad) lived with my parents for five years, they converted the garage into a flat fr him. ... You walk in through the front door and sat the door to his flat.
He officially died at hospital, but we all know he died in his flat and was gone when the ambulance arrived. This almost two years ago.
Anyway, about five months ago, my eldest started to REFUSE going in the flat, then even walking past the door and it always seemed quite cold in there.... This was during our mini heat wave.
We all joked that it was grandad comingback, but no one else really believed it.

One day, I picked Tobias up and carried him into the flat, sat on the floor with him and started 'talking' to his great grandad. Saying hadn't Tobi grown, he's a good boy, we mis you etc.

I said goodbye and we walked out, ever since then, Tobi will always go into the flat (nd he's there every Sunday, minimum) and talk to great grandad. He then waves goodbye when we leave!

That room is now never cold and Tobias is not scared.

I like to think we were talking to my gandad and that T still does.

Definetly. Ive got videos of Noah with orbs in. I feel comforted the other side is looking after my son :) x

This terrifies me ive seen so many horror movies like this :S lol xxx

Thanks for sharing. That is great to hear that Tobias is no longer scared.

I know hun. I haven't even seen those movie's-- paranormal activity but from the previews I remember a baby in a crib scene. VERY CREEPY!

However, I really hope that some of you can share more "positive" stories or beliefs about your LO's being visited by loved ones.

^ This! We're living with my mum in the family home. Mum was born here, Grandparents lived here their whole life etc. and my grandad passed away here after he had cancer so I've always been a bit uneasy in the house. He was a heavy smoker and nobody smokes in this house anymore but sometimes you'll just get this light whiff of smoke that goes away as quickly as it comes.
Ethan also stares over my shoulder and into the corner of the living room just completely transfixed.
My mum says its just my grandparents watching over him but it totally freaks me out.

We haven't had any strange happenings with monitors or things like that, but my daughter has always had "strange" episodes since she was an infant. Looking at the corner of her room and laughing, looking in the distance past us and babbling or smiling, pointing at things that I just don't see.

I don't know what it is exactly. I've always said that it's her brother Ethan coming to visit her. It makes me feel better and not so scared to think that it's him.

Both of my parents passed away in the last few months so when she was doing the pointing thing, I just assumed it was her grandma or grandpa.

Regardless, she has a lot of angels watching over her.

These things scare me. So I don't usually talk about our experiences. But yes, my eldest daughter "saw" people. It happened for about 4 years. Lots of times, and she could quite vividly describe the scenario or person to me. The one incident that stood out most of all for me, was when I was taking my eldest son to playschool. My daughter was about 3, and sitting right behind me. I was lost in thought while driving, when I suddenly thought of my (diseased) mother. She passed away 2 years before my daughter's birth. I was reminiscing about how much I missed her at that moment, when my daughter piped up from the back, laughing, telling me that the "old auntie" is funny. I asked her what old auntie, and she said the one sitting in the (empty) front seat next to me (across from my daughter). She described her as old, grey and shorter than I am. An accurate description of my mother. I was astonished, but also comforted.

I had one episode when I first put my son in his own room, put the new monitor on and all was fine. I wake up at the slightest sound- all of a sudden I heard someone talking, as of they were talking to my LO, they said 'shhh come on now' like they were trying to send him back to sleep. Although I didn't hear my LO wake up at all. It scared the sh*t out of me, I made OH go and check his room, nothing to be seen but I have never ever used the monitor since (4 months ago) and never will! Unless he is napping upstairs in the daytime which is very rare.

My LO does the looking past us and babbling thing, he did it a lot as a newborn (not babbling lol). We like to think he can see DH's mum.

My LO has been sleeping brilliantly recently but last night at 3am he started to cry hysterically. I ran in n the room was freezing and I had that weird feeling that someone was watching me. I just picked up Harry and took him to my room and kept him there in our bed once I finally managed to settle him. He won't even settle in that room tonight so god knows what happened  I've had the odd chattering over the monitor and when I go up he's asleep. Creepy!!!

No experiences with a monitor (this is the exact reason why I never bought one..) but sometimes my LO will look past me and concentrate on something behind me. When I turn around he stops. He laughs at things and smiles too.. I defo think it's a loved one :)

I've got a haunted doll in my living room that my LO just absolutely -LOVES- to smile and babble at... (makes me happy and reassures me that the doll is also still happy)

I know I probably "sound" loopy but I've seen this doll turn their head, my OH has seen it, the doll's "actual" owner (she refuses to take her now, she's too worried it might piss the doll off) has seen it, another friend has seen it... there's SO many things that she's "done" and SO many people have witnessed it, there's no doubt in my mind that the doll is haunted/possessed in some way. She's porcelain and has a lovely rosy hue on her cheeks and "skin" color when she's happy ... the worst sight I ever saw from her was when a visitor decided to take her picture, she went completely gray and ashen in color afterwards, it was highly disturbing lol

Whyyyyyy did I read this thread???? I hate stuff like this, and now I'm scared shitless to go in Lilly's room when she wakes up for a feed. :dohh:
