Hey i was just wondering if you needed to pack anything different for a planned section? Xx

Big pants that will go up above your wound, slippers that you can just slip on so you don't need to bend over, a dressing gown for that walk from your bed to the operating theatre otherwise you're going to be flashing your bum, lol.
You'll need extra baby clothes as the stay can be longer, although I was still only in for 2 nights and had too many baby clothes, OH was forever taking them home on visits, lol.
Loose fitting clothes for you, I highly recommend a nice loose dress, that way you can actually get dressed and not spend the whole time in nightwear!
Bring lots of maternity pads and extra baby wipes, you'll probably use them yourself for general freshening up.
Personally I didn't need this, but a lot of people said a small pillow to hold against their wound when they stood up really helped!

I will edit if I think of anything else, it's been a few weeks and I have baby brain, lol.

Just big knickers to go over the wound, nothing much else really. I also had too many clothes for baby & hubby had to take them home with him. I was only in hospital 2 days.

Thanks ladies do u bleed as much from down below after a section as you do when having natural? X

I've never had a natural but I bled a LOT after my section. I went through about 2 packets of maternity pads during my hospital stay.

Tbh I bag packed for a natural birth (emcs) and didn't find I needed anything extra. I didn't wear big pants either (I brought normal cotton pants) and they were fine.

I agree with the slip on slippers as bending down hurts. A lot.

Just make sure when your visitors leave that everything is on the table/chair and not on the floor - that's a mistake I made and had to call for help to get nappies etc.

Good luck xx

Thanks for tht i always wonderd. Sounds about the same bleeding as my two naturals. How long did you stay in hospital for? X

I had my section on Sunday at 11:54am and then I discharged myself on the Tuesday evening. The hospital were useless and were messing around with the results of a blood test... I was told the dr was "on his way round" at 11am the Tuesday morning and by 9pm I was still waiting. I spoke to the nurse and she told me she'd discharge herself too if she were me, so I did!

My baby was big and I struggled to lift her in and out of the cots there and I generally had little support. I was really glad to be home xx

That sounded really terrible where was that? Xx

Soft, full coverage panties. (We call them "granny panties" in the states, but not sure if you have a nickname for them in the UK). Just make sure they come up high enough and don't have any elastic that would fall across the incision site. I would also suggest a dress instead of pants for the journey home. I second the suggestion of slippers or slip on shoes as bending over is difficult to start with. Good luck.

The only thing i was glad of was that i packed a few miniatures of shower gel shampoo and conditioner.
This meant when i was showering if one of the dropped on the floor then it wasnt an issue i would just leave it as i would have lots of spares.
I hope that makes sense haha
