When did you start using them? I have read that juice is best given in a beaker and I am desperate for Oscar to have water or juice and he is constipated a lot lately.
However, he just laughs at the beaker, he has no idea he has to suck. :dohh:

I let Erica try one, since I didn't want to give anything but milk in her bottle. She was kinda confused by it also, so I tried holding her like I do for a feed, and she kinda got the hang of it. Although she sucked for a while, and barely drank anything. And got it all over herself lol. Maybe try at first to hold him like you would for a feed and hold the cup for him. =)

will give that a go....thanks :D

We gave Jack one but it was a non-spill one which he had to bite on the end, and of course he didn't know that so we had to buy a normal one. We give him about 20ml of juice at his 3pm feed everyday :)
Also the juice says not to dilute but when I smelt it and I thought it was a little strong I tasted it and it was strong even for me lol, so I do a 50/50 mix :)

Sam's just started using one in the last couple of weeks. I got him one that he actually had to suck from at first but even I had to suck hard to get anything out and he'd just bite the spout, so I bought him a tommee tippee one - the liquid will just drip slowly if you hold it upside down so they get the idea that they're meant to drink from it, but the spout can be flipped down when you don't want drink thrown everywhere. He's really good with it already - usually he picks it up by the handles and sucks on the lid, but with a bit of help he'll get the spout in his mouth and drink  (I did just hold it for him at first but he'd grab it anyway)

It's the 4+ month one but I think they do a 6+ month one too:

wwww, I might try that.

I dilute the juice too, I would prefer him to take water, but he isn't keen

If you want to give him water in his bottle that will be fine, I think its only juice that isnt good as it comes into contact with the teeth.

We use this one:

With water or milk, no juice.

Been using it for a few weeks now. He only takes a few sips at a time, but seems to like it.

He also grabs my glass of water with both hands and takes a few sips out of it - the lil monkey!

So cute!! Sam's always trying to grab my drinks with both hands but i think he'd probably just throw it all over his face if it got close enough

Loving that green cup! :D Would match our highchair nicely...maybe we need an upgrade! He's just happily had some water after his breakfast out of his beaker though...seems to be getting used to it x

This is the best kind of beaker to get as it drips and babies don't have to suck to hard. You should try sucking a no spill cup, i did and i really don't know how babies get anything out, its really hard.

My health visitor told me to avoid non drip cups as they have been linked to speech problems in children.

Where is everyone getting their cute signatures?? I want one! *throwing a tantrum*

If you haven't already look in the graphics/signatures section...Mynxie made mine :cloud9: and Mummy2Many makes them too :D x

Just to update....

Oscar still cant grasp the beaker thing

but

he will sip from an open cup  and enjoys doing it.

do you think I should just go with the cup thing? I mean? If he seems happy with it *shrug*

Yes i'd go with whatever your LO is happiest with. He might have a beaker when he gets a bit older.

If he's happy with a cup I'd just let him drink from that for now...give him a bit more time and I'm sure he'll get the hang of the beaker (so he can drink things himself without you having to hold it. Sam still spits most of his out and sucks on the lid if he picks it up so he's not drinking much from it! x

I got Jack this one - he knows he has to suck to get the juice out, but once he does he lets it all dribble out of his mouth with a look of disgust -
i don't think he is keen  He hates water, so will stick to the milk only for a bit longer!!

 Unless he's really thirsty Sam does that too. Or just plays with it and spits it back into the beaker! He's better with very dilute apple juice (there's a juice line on the side of the beaker) x

Will have to give the apple flavour a try, have only tried the apple & blackcurrant (I think) & he wasn't keen at all. Saw the juice line - very handy, but tend to measure my own at moment as most of it goes down the sink
