Being Made Redundant - 17 Weeks Pregnant !

We have just had an email around work saying there are going to be redundancies made and I am potentially one of them. I have only been working here since 2nd March 2015 and I am worried about maternity pay.

Anyone know my rights ?

Or what financial help I will be entitled to if I don't get SMP ?

I am so worried as we have a mortgage to pay !!!

Should I start applying for jobs or will it be in vain ? If I do do I have tell them at the interview I am pregnant ? Thanks

In terms of Redundancy and pregnancy you cant be made redundant because of pregnancy but you can be made redundant whilst pregnant if

when the business closes down either temporarily or permanently;
when the business moves and you cannot get to the new place of work;
when fewer employees are required for existing work.

So if they are saying they need fewer employees and you would be one they dont need if you werent pregnant being pregnant does not help. If you were picked because you were pregnant it would be unfair.

In terms of SMP:

To get SMP you must
have worked for the same employer for at least 26 weeks by the end of the qualifying week (the 15th week before the week your baby is due) and
be employed in all or part of your qualifying week (employment includes part of a day and includes days on annual leave or sick leave), and
earn at least £112 (April 2015-April 2016) on average in the eight weeks or two months before the end of the qualifying week.
You will not get SMP if you are made redundant and stop being employed BEFORE your qualifying week (the 15th week before your baby is due) but you may be able to claim Maternity Allowance. If you are made redundant and stop being employed IN or AFTER your qualifying week but before you start your maternity leave, you are still entitled to SMP.
