Hello, I'm due in August but wanting to prepare everything early just in case our little man makes an early appearance and so we can concentrate of getting his things ready! Sorry for the long post in advance, I just hope it makes sense!
Me and my boyfriend are currently unemployed (boyfriend had been since November as it was only a 6 month apprenticeship.) We are both 18, I'm 19 in May and he's 19 in November. We're due to move from Job Seekers Allowance - Income Based to Income Support on the 29th May as that's when I will be 29 weeks gone. I looked on the website and found that for Income Support it is £105.95 a week as we are living together and we will be claiming as a couple. (I know JSA is going up this month but not sure if Income Support is and if so, if it already has and that's what the amount is, or what the new amount will be.) I also know that on the 29th May we are entitled to apply for the £500 Maternity Grant. We are also already receiving Healthy Start vouchers already and I also know that when our little boy is here, we are entitled to £20.30 a week Child Benefit. I also know we are entitled to Child Tax Credit and have used an online calculator and it estimated we will receive £62.04 a week which means for him we will receive £82.34 a week, does this sound about right? If not, does anyone have a better rough estimate? Are we entitled to anything else?
Hopefully my boyfriend will have a job before he comes but I'm just estimating roughly how much we will have so we can sort the money out and concentrate on buying his things. (I like to be VERY prepared and not leave anything until the last minute!)
