I'm going to start weaning Oliver from breast to bottle as he is becoming increasingly fussy with feeding and started tugging and crying at the breast, not feeding for as long and more often. Its been a hard decision as I really do want to carry on feeding him but its getting too stressful for both of us.

Today I fed Oliver on the breast apart from his lunchtime feed he had 6 oz of formula and I will feed Oliver at 11pm for a 6oz formula feed (I've been doing this for a while) Shall I carry on with 2 feeds of formula for a few days or increase to 3 feeds of formula tomorrow? which feed should I replace next? Oliver normally wakes at 4:30 - 5am then 6:30 -7am for a feed shall this be breast or formula?

Sorry about all the questions

Thanks xx

Its up to you really how you want to switch, Alex was on two bottles a day anyways so i went cold turkey from that straight onto bottles.

To help with engorgement it is reccomended to gradually replace each feed so you drop a feed every few days (obv i didnt do this :lol)

We had similar problems at the same age and was part of the reason why i switched

Thanks hun, will try doing it gradually then. I didnt realise babies of this age could be so fussy lol!! Did Alex seem to miss the breast at all or take to exclusive bottle feeding well? I'm not sure whether I will miss it more than Ollie lol. I really enjoy the bonding but know its prob best for both of us, its not nice to see Ollie get so stressed. xx

Alex had 1 bottle a day from 2-3 weeks so he was always used to one. He took to it really well. As long as he got his food he didnt mind where it came from
Because Alex was getting fussy it was stressing us both out and it stopped being an enjoyable experience anymore

Oliver enjoys a bottle too but when he isnt being fussy he does find comfort from breast feeding although this seems to be getting less frequent. I'm going to stick with 2 formula feeds tomorrow and increase to 3 the following day but if he is very fussy at the breast I think I may go cold turkey.. see how it goes, as long as he gets milk thats all that matters.

Your pics of Alex are great! is there a template for adding pics onto your signiture? xx

sorry about all these questions, how much water should Oliver be having a day when he is being bottle fed? HV told me that he doesnt need water when bf but I havent got a clue how much I should be giving him when ff. thanks x

I dont really give Alex water unless its a hot day. I wasnt too sure but his nappies as still plenty wet without water so i dont really give it.

My siggy was made by a member called Melbo :D

Thanks hun really appreciate your advice! Melbo the siggy is great! x
