This seems way out of the expected range given on the lab report. Thoughts?

Thx!

Yes that does seem high! Is it possible you could be further along?

https://www.babymed.com/hcg-level-in-early-pregnancy

Going by this site that's more of a number that you would expect to see at 7-8 weeks pregnant! I would think that if you are only 5w5d that it would more likely be twins. Your HCG level wouldnt be that much higher if it was just down to you having a girl. Maybe its twin girls! Has your doctor said anything about the number? xxx

I'm waiting for a call back. I did a repeat test today but won't get the result 'til probably late Monday.

I don't think I'm farther along. I get irregular periods so I can't go by that (last one early January), but I was charting BBT and it started to rise on 2-23 and it stayed elevated as I kept measuring (went from an average of 98.5 to 99.1). So I believe that was ovulation. Plus within a week after that date I started getting some light cramping and breast soreness. Is there any other reason the T would increase if I had already been pregnant?

I was worried about a molar pregnancy for a minute, but they seem pretty rare (1/1000). I wish they would let me go in for an u/s. :/

fwiw, twins don't seem to run in my family. We weren't using an ovulation drugs. OH's side has twins, but I figured it'd be on me for that, no?

I'm not sure about that hunney my sister is 34 weeks pregnant with twins and we have no twins in the family the father of her baby's don't have twins either it doesn't have to be you or ur side for twins :-) xx

I think non-identical twins run on the mother's side as it means that you produced more than one egg each cycle which is hereditary. Identical twins dont run in families. Its just an element of chance that the embryo will split in two and form 2 babies. xx

OH will flip if it's twin girls. Us having preferentially wanted a singleton boy. lol! We'll be happy with what we get, of course. Twins would be amazing crazy.

Looks like doctor is not calling back today.. after 4pm and no call. Now I have to wonder what they think all weekend!

Hopefully your doctor will suggest an ultrasound as when HCG levels are 2000+ you should be able to see the pregnancy via ultrasound and your number is way more than 2000!

Well, looking back at my chart it is possible I ovulated as early as the 15th of February as there was a slight temperature drop before then for a couple of days, then a very slow rise after that. That would put me at 6w6d when taking that test. The doctor says the level sounds great and she would only be worried if it were very low. She said between 5-8 weeks up to 100000 could be considered "normal".

So, might be having a single normal baby after all. She said she will order the ultrasound and I can call on Monday to schedule it. YAY!! :D

It seems high to me- when I was 6+3, my levels were apx 34,000 and the lab put me at exactly 6+3 (and then amazingly, my US tech put me at 6+3 too)

So I have to think that your levels being more than twice what my run-of-the-mill couldn't be more average numbers may indicate something more is going on.

But, some women also produce more hcg. With DS, my numbers were higher than they are with this baby (I don't remember what they were exactly), so it can also vary pregnancy to pregnancy.

Good luck! Do you feel more severe symptoms? I know that's a twin symptom, b/c I got MS at 4 weeks pretty badly (made me test) and it's stayed, so I wondered about twins and researched a bit. I only have one though!!! :)

Hi there,

No, I'm not experiencing much in the way of symptoms. I was a little queasy when I didn't eat super frequently for a couple of weeks, but it has subsided. The cramping is also much less frequent, maybe a couple small ones a day. The boob soreness is also much more tolerable, although they feel very heavy and I've grown out of my bras already (wearing them like push-ups right now, trying to extend their use).

I will post back next week after the ultrasound to tell you what we find. :)

My hpt line was very dark at 6 weeks pregnant...does this mean high hcg levels? I don't think my test was as dark with my DS, is there any corolation between darkness of line on pregnancy test and gender?

By 6 weeks a positive test would probably be very dark whatever test you took as most tests pick up hcg at 25-50 and by 6 weeks your levels would be in the thousands. Generally it is thought that your hcg levels may be higher if you are having a girl, but alot of women also have very high hcg when carrying a boy so its different for everybody. xx

:) Up to 110000 after 3 days from the first measure. Oh the nerves! Will Thursday ever get here??!
