Any of you know how likely it is for my DH and I to conceive on our own since he has "below normal" levels?? All of his levels (motility, count, morph.) are below normal. . . just curious! We are now on our 13th cycle (I am very regular) and I am getting very discouraged. Thanks in advance!

Hi Rdy2bamom- Yes, there is always a chance as all it takes is one, but the chances of conceiving drop significantly. If the motile sperms (ie healthy sperms in terms of motility and morphology) are less than 20 million then the chance of conception per cycle is just under 3% as compared to normal counts with a success rate of 20% per cycle. Me and my husband also are facing male factor and have had our 2nd IUI where the doc pooled in 3 samples to get the count which gives us a fair chance of conception.

All the best

It also will depend on your age and you look quite young on the picture, so that's all good!! In the end, it is definitely possible, especially if it is slightly under the recommended values, but it is totally unknown teritory in that it could take one cycle or 50.

I fell pregnant at the age of 38 our first month ttc last May (unfortunately m/c a few weeks later). Thankfully because of my age, my GP referred me 6 months after trying again and that is how we discovered that OH swimmers were not tornados!

My GP has said that if it wasn't for my age, we could continue to ttc and it would happen at some stage, but because of my decreased fertility, we don't have that time. We will be starting icsi next month.

There have been a few numbers of bfps here with male factor, about three recently I think, so it is quite encouraging. We also have to remember that SA results can fluctuate quite a bit in some cases. I have told OH that I will never stop trying each month until the menopause decides differently.

Good luck Rdy2BaMum and looknomore :hugs:

Thanks ladies! I just haven't been able to find many "statistics" on getting pregnant with male fertility issues. My DH is seeing the urologist on May 5th to see what they may be able to help with. As far as age goes, I'm 27 and he's 26, so I know we have time. . . . I'm just getting very impatient. :) Hope you both have a very blessed day!
