Bigger Babies Club

Dimbo: I love the 3/4 month stage, it's when their little personalities start to show :D My niece was a similar build when she was about that age, she is very tall now. Are you and/or hubby tall? Just wondering with you saying she is short :flower:

jules: Rose looks adorable :flower:

Aliss: Alex reminds me of how my nephew looked when he was a baby (he's 9 now) - very cute little chap who will charm lots of people with those lovely eyes!

Chloe is currently in 12-18 or 12-24 month clothes. I'm fed up tho as she has some really nice tops that fit yet the sleeves are too short, too long to pass off as 3/4. Today she had a decent top on but it popped out the end of her coat sleeved :dohh: If the sleeves are right the body is too big

Hehe, I didn't mean to imply she's short. She's not. She's on the 98th line for height. When she's sat she looks short and chubby, when she's 'standing' she looks more in proportion. I'm 5'6 and hubby is 6'6, so she's going to be tall I think. Her toes are at the end of her 9 month sleepsuits, and will probably only last another week or so before she's in 12 month ones all the time :dohh::haha:

And yes, hubby and I were discussing this last night. The last week or two has really been a big leap in her personality showing through. She'll sit and play with toys, and talk to us all the time, with different tones to show her mood. :D

I'm forever getting the 'isn't he big' comments from people, especially MIL. It annoys me, even though I know it shouldn't. He's 18lbs at 5 months...I think that's the 72nd percentile, which is big, but obviously not the biggest. I'm glad to have found this support thread!!!

well EJ now at 10months is starting to catch up to some smaller 2 yr olds lol i am gonna have to move him to another carseat again soon as he is nearly at the 13kg weight limit for his combi seat and i dont want to turn him around, Nate is now in need of a new carseat as well as he has breached the 18kg mark for his seat so we are getting a new one for him as soon as we are back from holiday to nz, i need to get him an extended rearfacing seat as the other option for his weight is a forward facing booster with adult seatbelt and hes only 2 1/2 !! theres no way im putting him just with an adult 3 point belt he can get out of a 5 point harness an adult seatbelt would just be dangerous

In January we switched Rose to a bigger carseat too. One of the 3 in one kind so she is still rearfacing. I do miss being able to take her in and out of the car in her seat and putting it on the stroller though.. I'm in a Honda Element (which I love EXCEPT that it is not good at all for babies...). It has "suicide doors" so it's really akward to get up into and climb out of the car while holding my baby. I can't wait because next summer when my husband is done school we are buying a mini-van! We will need a second vehicle anyways. Am I the only one who went from never ever wanting to own a mini-van to drooling over the new models? LOL

lol when we decide on having another kid we will need a new car lol we are actually getting rid of the car at the end of the month anyway but our next one is gonna have to be at least a 7 seater

the carseat thing is such a minefield isn't it! I was trying to work out what seats our girls would need for holiday at the end of May for the hire car... gone for 2 Stage 1 ones (forward facing, 5 pt harness) Bridget will be 9.5 months by then, and that was about the age Charlotte moved up, so hopefully it'll be fine!

Ive got a forward facing one for Chloe, it should last until she is 4, it could tilt so for a bit it was more like the 0 style but her legs are that long now they were bunched up against my seat so we have moved it to a normal seat position and she is much happier. Its great as it has an alarm on it so if she ever accidentally escapes we get a warning

ooh, that alarm sounds clever! Charlotte normally tells me she has escaped :dohh:

Awh that's kind of sweet she tells you

Chloe wouldn't, she is a monkey, she hates been strapped into anything at the moment, I would most likely turn around and see her sat on the normal seat if she could :dohh: She likes to sit next to me on the bus but at least I can hold onto her there. . . . thankfully she hasn't figured out escaping yet!

i think i still belong here :haha: my two arent that big i dont think but i often get told they are big

Harriets around about 80cm and 25lb @ 21.5 months
Max is 72cm and 19lb @ 9months

Hello & Welcome Sarah0108 :flower:

well Nate while on holiday breached the 1mt height mark and 19.5kg now so i have 2 choices on carseat a booster with adult lapbelt ( supposed to be from 3yrs up but i dont feel an adult belt is enough restraint for a 3 yr old and hes not 3 till June ) or an extended rear facing seat which i can keep him in a 5 point harness to 25kg and put him front or rear facing. Nate was in a booster with adult belt during our holiday and it was driving me mad having to watch him for the whole trip so he didnt undo or wiggle out of his belt or sit next to him to keep him under control i wouldnt feel safe driving without another adult in the car who could watch him hes not old enough to understand ( as much as we tried to help this ) that i feel much safer spending more to get a harnessed seat for him

He's still in a rearfacing seat?! What sort? I thought they did up to about age 1?
Our forward facing with 5pt harness is good up to 36kg and you can remove the harness to use as a high back booster when they're older... it's a britax evolva 1-2-3
https://www.britax.co.uk/car-seats/car-seats/evolva-1-2-3
alternatively there are some that use no straps, just a restraining padded section across their hips which suit our age child... although I've just checked and it's only 18kg. to be honest, I haven't weighed C in ages - she's 97cm now, perhaps should check her weight!

I'm actually going to be asking my nurse about Rose's carseat. She is now at the weight/height limit for rear-facing (we have a 3-in-1) but she's not near 1 year yet. I don't know if I should go by age or not? Should I switch it to forward facing? So confusing...

Chloe has been forward facing since 4 months as she reached the hight limit never mind the weight limit! lol

not been on here in a while but thought i would update on my little chunk :D

Chloe will be 18 months on sunday and is approx 84cm and 26lb! will hopfully find out for definate on friday.

she keeps waking in the night at the moment :( i think its because she has her incisors coming in, think she has 13 teeth now! Chloe has been walking since 16 months and still seems to be finding her balance bless her! she looks likes shes drunk when we go out! anyway tis late and i dont get much time to rest these days so i am going and should hopfully update again on friday :D xxx

I have a Graco MyRide 65 which is rear facing until 40lbs, which works great for my 26lb chunkster!

Which seat do you have hun? Most combi seats in Canada that do rear-facing can stay RF until at least 30lbs- I'd check your instruction manual :flower: Here in Ontario it's law that they stay RF until a minimum of 1 year (mainly because of neck development) but it might be different in PEI  There is also a great thread in the natural parenting section of rear-facing seats and Beth is super knowledgeable about all the various seats in North America

lynnikins: I would of hated having Chloe in a normal seatbelt at such a young age, I think its hard enough now when they struggle and want to get out! Sounds like holiday car journeys weren't much fun :flower:

Car seat wise, Chloe is forward facing and her seat goes from 9 months to 4 years. We decided to get one that lasted until 4 even though you can go longer as we figured it would get a hammering and we would want to change after a while anyway. This is the never version of her seat, the one we got wasn't isofix, it wasn't available at the time.

xxleeleexx: Not sure if I did congratualte you on your pregnancy, so congratualtions! :flower: Hope Chloe's teeth cut quickly :flower:
