Bigger Babies Club

Bear in mind Bridget is 4 months old now though!! She was only having about 18-20oz of formula at a month old...

One thing that drives me mad about the suits is that I don't want him to wear 12 month clothing! It's all shirts, jackets, jeans, shoes, etc. but he's still a wee baby and I prefer to keep him in his sleep suits. Ugh!!!

I got some 12-18 18-24 sleep suits from mothercare recently. I love their sizes, they'r not tight like other shops & suitable for big babies. Omar was in rompers (it was summer) until he was 9 months, then he went into dungarees. He started to wear proper clothes few week back & I still dress him in dungarees most of the time & in sleep suits at home

Ah, I see.. guess she isn't getting full at all from my breastmilk! I'm still glad she's getting it though, but it's frustraiting to work so hard and go through the pain (she has a VERY strong latch!!) and it not make her feel nice and full... even when I feed her for over an hour at a time. Yesterday she drank at least 15 ounces after I breastfed her for over an hour before she'd settle and go to sleep.

Its good that your still trying to BF as well though, I combi fed for a bit but didn't express properly, well, not as frequently as I should and it affected my supply. I wish I could of carried on combi feeding for a bit longer but i just didn't realise at the time.

I'm not fully up on BF since I didn't do it for very long but Kaites may be able to help. I have heard about cluster feeding when LO is growing so they always seem hungry and are practically on the boob all the time, so even if you feel it isn't satifying her, its common for them at times to still want more iyswim?

:flower:

Cluster feeding is definitely common and a good thing  Even if it doesn't always feel like a good thing when you've been on the couch feeding all day, lol :) Basically, it's just LO's way of upping your supply to keep up with her demand and for a few days until your body adjusts to needing to produce more milk, your LO will be at the boob for loooonnnng periods of time. Looking at your ticker, you're definitely in the right territory for a 6 week growth spurt :flower: I found that once we were past the 3 month growth spurt, the mega feeds didn't really happen anymore- in other words, it does get easier :hugs:

hey all! last week owen weighed 21lbs 14oz just before he hit 7 months! he loves to eat and is more accepting of texture and lumps than my other 2 were!!!

Hey maybebaby3 :D Glad weaning is going well

EJ is still growing well hes so close to proper crawling and is eating more solids now after being fussy and not accepting anything off a spoon till recently now he will eat and eat and eat and eatand im having trouble keeping up with him lol hes still breastfeeding 6+ times a day and if i havent managed to get enough solid food in him then he wakes in the night too

6 month weigh-in yesterday.

21.8lbs, 94.9% percentile. Not sure where this is coming from as he has reflux and pukes most of his milk!

Happy Christmas everyone :flower:

Omar's reflux never affected his weight gain althoug he was very sicky, he was never keen on his milk & when we started weaning he ate almost nothing for months, but his weight gain has aways been steady. He went from he 50th percentile at birth to the 91st at 7 months, now he's at the 88th percentile & he's above 25 lbs

Just got back from the doctor and Rose is 16 and a half pounds. I know this is a big weight, but she doesn't have a lot of chubbiness - she's super long (wearing 9 month sleepers because of her length!). The doctor is worried because she's "off the charts" and basically implied that I feed her more than I should. He kept saying that when she cries it doesn't necessarily mean that she's hungry and that it could be gas or that I could try holding her, etc. Um.. yaaaa... I don't feed her every time she cries. I know her "hungry cry" as I'm sure most moms do! He also doesn't want me to suppliment her with formula anymore and just breastfeed. Or just do the formula but not both. I don't care what he says if it is like it was in the hospital and I have to hear my baby screaming in hunger I'll give her some damn formula! In a way I'm tempted to switch over to just formula so I can keep track of how much she is eating but I'm just not sure. She's had over 2 months of breastfeeding so she has gotten a lot of the immunities and such from me but I know it would be good to keep going with it. I don't know.. I just know that I felt terrible and cried a bit after the appointment. It doesn't feel good to have someone think you're doing something wrong with your baby and acting like there's something wrong with her.. I want to try to find a pediatrician or another doctor or something, but it's nearly impossible here to find a doctor.
Anyone else have issues with their doctor because your baby was so large? My sister has a large baby too (he's one and wearing size 3 clothing!!) but her doctor loves it and thinks it's great cause he's super healthy. I wish I could have my sister's doctor!!

got Lo weighed today and he's 22lbs 4

thats a gain of 1lbs 7 in 2 month which is alot better than what he used to do which was put on 1lbs a week. I think his weight gain is starting to steady itself now, 2 months ago he was near the 98th line and is now halfway between 91st and 98th

I think he's grown longer in every way his legs and arms, so doesnt look so chubby :( his little fat rolls on his arms are going :(

jules: Keep doing what you feel is best feeding wise, don't be forced to come of the breast, it has to be your own decidion but I can't see anything wrong with you combi feeding! It's just crazy he is saying do one or the other! If I could of combi fed for longer I would of. Plus I still don't thing you can overfeed a baby when they are purely just on milk, they would just sick it all up if full. Your LO is at a stage where she will be doing so much growing, the 2-3 month mark, so most likely she isgoing to be hungry a lot of the time but like you say, a Mum knows a hungry cry from all the other crys, you just do. Seems such a shame you are stuck with this doctor. :hugs:

leoniebabey: :hugs: Don't worry, even with a bit of the baby chubbieness gone, there is still plenty of baby left in him yet (if that makes sense!) :hugs:

Oh hun im sorry ur doc is such a horrible person! ur little one sounds lovley and healthy to me. my LO was nearing 18lb at that age and my docs thought she was lovley and healthy. i was combi feeding for a while aswell but couldnt keep up with her. xxx

EJ was nearly 17lbs at that age hun they do so much growing in the early weeks , he was right on the top line of our charts and completely off the top of the WHO BF charts and was solely on expressed breastmilk drinking near enough 50oz in 24 hours

kids are all different, EJ feeds more and longer and is heavier than Nate but comparatively hes a much slimmer baby than Nate was at this age

Thanks! It's good to hear from other mom's whose babies are this size at this age. The doctor wasn't mean about it all or anything, I think he's just ignorant to the fact that some babies don't fit the "average". He's all about his dang charts!

Hello Ladies, how are all our little-biggies doing? :flower:

People do comment on how Chloe looks older than her age, she just went 15 months the other day. I popped pigtails in her hair the other day and she did look older to me too, freaked me out!
