Help! My toddler has started biting all of the sudden and nothing seems to help. I don't think he's doing it on purpose. I try to remind him to open his mouth wide and to not use his teeth, that it hurts mommy. I unlatch him immediately, and give him three chances to get it right, but usually after I unlatch him the first time, he gets so upset he doesn't calm down enough to open wide and he bites down again. It seems to be mostly his upper teeth. Even when it doesn't hurt very badly, when he's done, I still see teeth marks on my nipple. We've only had biting problems on two other occasions, when his teeth first came in and then once during my pregnancy (might have been when the next teeth came in). His canines are just coming through on top, but I can't tell if that is what's causing the problem. I really don't want to wean over this; I don't want it to end on a bad note, but if he can't nurse without using his teeth, I don't know what else to do.
