Any updates Jen? I'm curious to see how this is working out for you.
When I had my first miscarriage, I never knew I was pregnant until it was over and my friend finally talked me into going to the ER. They didn't do a d&c because it was over but, if I remember correctly, I spotted for about 3 or 4 days then bled so heavy with tons of clots for nearly 2 weeks. It was so bad that I went through a tampon and pad every 20 minutes.
My second miscarriage was a lot less awful. This time I knew I was pregnant but 10 days later, the bleeding started. It was spotting for a day or two then came more. I was clotting more than normal but my bleeding was almost like a regular period. It lasted about 5 or 6 days, which is also pretty normal.
During my pregnancy with my son, who was in between the two miscarriages, I had what the doctors at the ER called a "threatened abortion", also known as "threatened miscarriage". Basically it was my body's way of telling me that I needed to change something or else I would lose the baby. With this, the blood was bright pink and I was in so much pain, they had to prescribe me pain killers to be able to rest.
With this pregnancy, I am currently 10+3 and at 8 weeks, I had dark brown blood when I wiped. I left work immediately and went to the ER where they told me it was a "threatened miscarriage". When I went to my appointment with the specialist the next morning, they found out that I had a sore inside my uterus that was causing the bleeding and had nothing to do with the baby at all but that it was old blood that was finally making its way out.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is this:
Brown blood = old blood, meaning more than likely you're in the clear.
Bright pink or red blood = complications that need to be looked at by a Dr immediately, just in case.
Bright pink or red blood with clots = possible miscarriage, also needing Dr's attention.
You never know for sure what's going on until you either find or don't find a heartbeat..
Best of luck to you and hopefully things will be in your favor!! Keep us posted
